The best things about Novotel Canary Warf is the Bokan 37 restaurant with its view of London, and the fact they allow dogs (for a substantial fee). In my opinion, everything else (service, cleanliness, amenities) is at best average and mostly subpar for a supposed 4-star hotel.
We booked a room for two adults and a child. The first room they gave was us was tiny (maybe 20 sqm) and smelled like sewer due to a faulty drain in the bathroom. We negotiated an upgrade to a bigger room (about 50 sqm) for half the usual extra cost. The new room was definitely better, but still subpar given they called it a “suite.” There was only one bottle of soap for two bathrooms and the shower had only one pressure setting (an on/off switch). The room cleaning was good one day but almost non-existent the other day, when they left dirty plates/cups and simply folded our used, wet towels and left them. They allowed us to bring our small dog for an extra £25/night, for which we got nothing - no water bowl or dog bed or similar. The lifts are an absolute annoyance for all guests - they’re tiny, and 1-2 out of 4 were always faulty, which meant people often had to wait for 10 minutes or more to get into a lift.
Lastly, the staff varied a lot in their friendliness - some were genuinely nice, while some had a serious attitude problem and went out of their way not to help or make you feel welcome. It’s often the small things in the interactions with the staff that a make difference, and unfortunately not everyone at Novotel got that memo.
