Booked this hotel because it was reasonably priced and only a 15 minute walk from a venue I was in London to visit. Upon arrival there was a couple stood outside who told me they'd been trying for about 10 minutes to get into the hotel to check in. The three of us rang the bell several more times, tried ringing but nobody answered and eventually the door opened. Receptionist was told we'd been outside a while, he said 'sorry I was with a customer' but sounded more annoyed than apologetic. My room was on the top floor, no elevator but this is usual in budget London hotels, bit of a trek and narrow staircase which I had to navigate with my bags. The room itself seemed clean enough but I was shocked by all the mould above the shower, I'm not really a clean freak in hotels but did find that a bit gross. The cold water tap didn't work, randomly did work just before I went to bed and by the next morning stopped working again, very random. Sound-proofing wasn't great, again this is fairly typical for a budget London hotel, street noise and noise from other guests can be quite loud but despite this I managed to sleep okay. Was woken up five minutes before my alarm by a woman knocking on my door to ask if I wanted late checkout? I'd been told checkout was at 10AM and it was 9AM when she knocked so I asked if checkout was actually at 9 to which she replied "oh" and then left? Also *********** advises 10:30AM checkout, the sign downstairs says you have to be out by 11AM but receptionist said 10AM. I felt pressured to get up and get out at that point. The area it's in was decent, plenty of places to eat and shops to grab anything you need. I travelled alone and whilst I didn't feel unsafe in the hotel I didn't feel safe either. Overall I probably wouldn't stay here again.
