This was a very good choice in terms of accommodation as it was not too expensive (in comparison to other places in Derry) and was very comfortable. The rooms we had were well decorated and the beds were comfy. The en-suite bathrooms were nice and clean. The room views were of the city and this also applies to the seating area out the back where we were able to enjoy a drink in the sun. The location is good and quiet although it is uphill a bit. This is not really a problem at all but if I had lots of luggage I'd maybe get a taxi. The staff were remarkably friendly and helpful. We met them mostly at breakfast and they sorted us out well in general with all our enquiries like how to find places in the city.
Ive never written a negative review before but genuinely felt compelled. We had dinner included in our package so we dined in the hotel. Thankfully it wasnt busy as we were hungry and looking forward to a nice meal as it was quite a long journey for us to make. We ordered a caesar salad and spring rolls to start. It took over 45 minutes to arrive, and in that time other guests started conversations with eachother about how long that had been waiting also. One gentleman on his own just ordered one meal and waited over an hour for it. When the main courses arrived, mine wasnt what I had ordered at all and the waitress (who had taken my order) needed me to show her on the menu what I had asked for. It took another half and hour to arrive and it wasnt great. We ordered dessert to the room, when we could eventually get the waitresses attention, as we were tired and the restaurant was empty and waitresses were cleaning up. When the desserts arrived they didnt include any spoons or forks and had to go back to the kitchen for them, the ice cream had melted when he returned with two spoons. We felt disappointed to have made such a long journey to visit only to have such a disappointing dining experience.
As a couple with young kids who rarely get the chance to escape on our own it is absolutely wonderful to get the opportunity to stay here when we do. Having stayed in many stunning hotel over the years the Shipquay is one of our newer favourites. The hotel is welcoming and stylish. The staff are amazing, their friendliness towards guests and attention to detail is above par and was on this occassion also. We dined in the restaurant and the food was delicious & beautufuly presented. There's a nice cocktail menu too. Despite it being very busy that night our every whim was catered to. The little things like prosecco on arrival and treats in our room along with luxury robes & voya toiletries all make this hotel a very relaxing stay. The location is great. Parking though not available on sight is available easily nearby. We love this hotel and look to visit when we can. Bliss 😊
We had a lovely stay. We went to a Motown show which was great. The room was lovely, everything we needed and the food and service was excellent. The receptionist on arrival was very welcoming. The pianist in the foyer was also a nice touch. Overall a very pleasant experience and we would stay again.
We booked into this hotel for a 2 night break. We have stayed before o it was an easy choice to return. The hotel was really good before but has improved since last time. The lady on reception switched our room for us as it wasn't suitable for me. Nothing to do with hotel and the room we got so was good. The hotel was being decorated for Halloween and it looked great. Work has been done in hotel and it has made a big difference to public areas. The food in the bar was excellent as before so we ate there both nights. I had said last time we stayed there that breakfast wasn't great but what a difference in it this time. Couldn't compare it to last time. Would definitely recommend this hotel and can't wait to return.

Stayed a couple of nights on business and upgraded to the premier plus room offering “ultimate wifi” and “an improved place to work”. I would stick to the standard room in future as the ultimate wifi offered only 6mbps and the work area consisted of a shelf under the TV at stool height which wasn’t even deep enough for my laptop. I ended up working on the coffee table and armchair which wasn’t ideal. That said the shower was lovely and the coffee machine and fridge were welcome. The bed was as comfortable as always. However the aircon made a tremendous racket all night similar to a kettle boiling every 30 mins, even when turned off.
ゲゲストNo 8 The Townhouse The location was central. Checking in was very easy through the use of a keypad. The room was very small and in need of decorating. The furnishings and bedding were very tired. The bathroom was clean but the quality of both the towels were substandard and badly frayed. There was no sink plug and the bath plug leaked. Basic tea and coffee supplies were available within the room but were not replenished during our stay. Our room was at the back of the property, and the pigeons in the derelict building behind were noisy and significantly impacted on our sleep. Breakfast was very basic - it would be a stretch to call it continental. Overall we were very disappointed with our stay and would not recommend this accommodation to others visiting Derry.
We booked here for one night at the last minute following a change of plans. The street on which the inn is located is not particularly promising. Fairly shabby and a busy road. Welcome was perfectly pleasant. Parking is available at a public car park nearby and is 50p per hour during working hours. It was quiet but on returning to the car the following morning, we discovered a huge pile of human excrement that a reveller from the previous evening had left behind the car. I won't share a photo! The inn was also fairly shabby and could really do with some TLC. Our room was large and at the front of the property so we faced the full blast from the road. Double glazing kept a lot of the noise out, but it was fairly noisy so choose a room at the back if this is a problem for you. Beds were comfortable and clean and bathroom was functional but again quite basic. Breakfast was fine. I has the full Irish breakfast and it was quickly served. Location is pretty good. You are very close to the river and a five minute walk across the bridge takes you to the centre of the City. We paid £89 for the night and that included breakfast. We were also advised by locals that the pub next door was not very welcoming so gave it a miss. Overall I wouldn't personally stay there again as it was a little too shabby for me to enjoy it but if you just wanted a well located place with parking and a decent bed, it would be OK. We also have to accept the challenges that lockdown has placed on small businesses so I can understand that it is not easy or cheap to keep places in tip top condition
