Hotel was in the best location in Lucca! Beautiful hotel with the charm of a small town. Vanessa at the front desk and the rest of the hotel staff were truly amazing and so welcoming. Cleanliness of the rooms, the beauty of the hotel, the restaurant, location and staff are just a few of the reasons I would 100% recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back!

We just finished a five-night stay at the Grand Universe, and it was perfect in every way. Lucca is a charming village east of Florence and having just spend ten days in Florence and Rome, Lucca is the perfect place to unwind. This hotel is centrally situated in the city, and you can be virtually anywhere within the walls with a 15-minute walk. After an initial hiccup with the first room, the hotel management responded in an amazing way. They gladly placed us in another room, which was spectacular. We enjoyed the bar and restaurant, which are beautiful and we so appreciated the welcoming staff. Can't say enough about this hotel and their team. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

What a lovely hotel! Beautifully appointed as you arrive. Located in the heart of Lucca. Lovely welcome from Mare, enjoyed an upgraded room overlooking the town square. The restaurant food was Tuscan tasty, well served and great service from Azeera, genuinely interested in us. Breakfast so much to choose, all fresh and well-stocked. The views from the rooftop bar exquisite! A lovely city and to be recommended.

Absolutely gorgeous and comfortable hotel. We had an exceptional time here. The hotel is very beautiful and very well located. The staff were extraordinarily lovely. Davide, May and Mare at reception were welcoming, kind, and most helpful with their advice and recommendations. Alice at the bar was just lovely and we had really great chats with her. She made delicious coffee. The breakfast bar in general is also fantastic. William, our bellman, was wonderful and took all of our luggage up to our room. He seemed to be always running around the hotel getting things done. Overall we highly recommend staying at the Grand Universe. The perfect place to stay in Lucca.

Perfect location, great staff, great cleaners, rooms pretty small, showers really small, restaurant above average and with ‘normal’ prices (inline with neighboring restaurants. No parking. Taxis will take you directly there (even tho it is in a pedestrian zone). Rooftop bar not worth it.

This hotel was conveniently located not only for staying in Lucca but also for arriving and departing, which with many medieval walled cities is not always the case! Our reception was warm and always helpful. They helped with dinner reservations and map directions for parking, which is off site about a five minute walk. (You are able to park at the hotel to drop and pack luggage but must provide the license plate number as it is in a prohibited parking zone). Like most walled cities, the room, was a bit on the small side but it was very comfortable. The bed was large and restful and the bathroom was well stocked including bathrobes. The shower was very small so if one is larger, this may be of concern but we found it to be good and the water pressure and heat wonderful! There is a kettle with instant coffees and tea and the breakfast buffet has a wide assortment of items to choose including scrambled eggs and bacon. Coffees are made to order and delivered to your table. The hotel has a small but beautiful rooftop bar. Because many of the cocktails are champagne based it is a bit pricey, however the breathtaking views are well worth the cost! Reservations are recommended but we were able to get a seat when we walked up. The hotel even offered a discount on a first visit! The Grand Universe is a lovely place to spend your time in Lucca!

This place is in the heart of this charming Italian city and part of Marriott brand. . . .it is a gem... Reception staff, bar staff, and breakfast staff were amazing kudos to Emanuel and Mariapia and Alice and Vanessa! Dont know why not #1! This is luxurious place! Best place to stay in a great city!

Perfect place to explore Lucca. Quiet, clean and very well decorated. The gym had new equipment with full weight set. Everything you would expect from an Autograph Collection. Special thanks to the outstanding service from Manuel, William and Vanessa!!
