ザ クラウン ホテル(The Crown Hotel)

We were staying elsewhere in Lynton just bed and breakfast so needed a evening meal. Saw the Crown Hotel and decided to have a meal. The staff were really nice and we had a table inside. My wife had vegetarian chilli and rice and I had scampi and chips. All good pub fare, but I have to say my meal was delicious and perfect. My wife enjoyed her chilli, though it was slightly watery. But that’s because it was a veggie version. But besides that we enjoyed our visit and would recommend the Crown Hotel. We looked in the hotel part later in the week and it looked nice.

This is a very friendly place, really happy friendly staff never too busy to chat. I enjoyed room five very quiet looking over the car park with views of a beautiful old tree, and a good bath with plenty of hot water. The room was well decorated and the whole hotel was spotless throughout. Rooms cleaned daily with generous restocking of coffees teas and milk. Very good cooked breakfast with plenty of choice. Well stocked bar with 3 local beers on tap. The beer was well maintained an excellent pint every time. I really enjoyed the home cooking with lots of specials which change every day. I particularly enjoyed the liver and onions and the fish pie, the vegetarian masala was very good as well. Great centre for walking with the valley of the rocks accessed along the spectacular cliff path, and the walk down to Lynmouth the start of the three moors way and a walk down the river to Watersmeet and on to Brendon.

On our annual visit to Lynton, we ate here twice. Firstly Sunday lunch which as always was gorgeous. Very filling and tasty, and amazing Yorkshire puddings . We booked for the following evening, I had the lasagne and my husband had the curry and we had a side of cheesy chips to share. Brilliant food, reasonable prices and very friendly service. We eat here every year , and is a highlight of our stay in Lynton.

Outside seating area full of dogs , one was lurching at everyone who went by. Pretty hostile land lady too. Not the nicest of welcomes and not a smile to be had…. Younger staff were pleasant. Maybe take note of them, not the older lady. Food was pretty good especially lasagne and curry dish. Many pubs to choose from, don’t bother.

Lee and the Team at the Crown could not have been more welcoming and hospitable to our Cricket Team when we stayed for a night following our Tour game with Lynton & Lynmouth CC. Food and drinks were great and reasonably priced. Rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. An excellent find and looking forward to returning next year!

Went here for food when staying in Lynton for 2 nights. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff are lovely. You can eat in the bar or the restaurant and it's best to book as they do get very busy. The sticky toffee pudding is a must.

tremendous value for money.Room spacious well equipped and spotless. Bath tub & separate enclosed shower Manager extremely helpful and friendly.The food was excellent value,good quality and the breakfast choice and quality great.Will definitely return.

We travelled to Lynton specially to see the Mick Cawston murals in the bar. We know his sister and had promised her to go and take some photos, while we were on holiday in Ilfracombe. The place was closed when we arrived but the host was very kind and let us wander around, have a good look, and take our photos. With such good people in charge, I'm sure staying, eating and drinking here must be excellent.

They managed to squeeze us in at short notice as they are pretty busy. Food was good price, generous portions and was lovely. Staff were very friendly even under pressure. It’s really well decorated inside as well.
