ラ テラス(La Terrasse M)

Yet another great visit after too long away because of Covid. Great welcome, great service and great food on the glorious terrace. As ever we were made to be most welcome by all staff and the standards are even higher than ever.

The views from the outside dining area are exceptional. The building has fantastic architectural features with an authentic old world charm? The meals had artistic presentation and phenomenal flavours. Rooms were of adequate size. Our room overlooked the courtyard on one side. Overall great stay.

Whilst in the middle of a 10-day road trip around France, we did not realise when planning each stop what a gem La Terrasse would turn out to be. Could we find fault? Absolutely not, and not because we were looking. The location could not be more breathtaking perched atop a small mount overlooking the river. The view was exceptional. Our welcome was warm, our food was delicious and the staff were a total joy. There are few places that we go back to. This is one that we will.

The gorgeous location of this ancient property is a real draw. However the modest cost of the accommodation is perhaps reflected in the rather basic room. It has everything one needs but is could do with a refurb. One of the main attractions of the establishment is the restaurant with its terrace overlooking the river below. The menu options are rather pricey and we felt the food was good but not outstanding. Service was fine and the owner of the hotel who is also around on reception as well as serving on tables couldn’t have been more charming - she also speaks English and Spanish (and possibly other languages).

Lovely staying in an old castle but it does come with some challenges. There are a lot of curved stair cases and no elevators. Scenery is beautiful and the village is very quaint and peaceful.

Although we visited in the quiet season, we were very warmly welcomed, made to feel quickly at home and we enjoyed a really delicious seasonal dinner and a lovely continental breakfast. Its an extremely old venue yet very warm and welcoming.

The situation of the hotel is wonderful along the Dordogne river. You can park your car on the little square next to the church (very quiet and safe place to leave your car) The reception was friendly. Watch out : there is no elevator in the hotel (old castle) so when you are on the second floor..... with narrow stairs.... Room was outdated, as well as the bathroom. Very dangerous bath tub (very slippery) used as well as shower. Furthermore the restaurant is a real disgrace. Terrace is really beautiful and service was very friendly. But the food : portions are children's portions..... My wife had as a starter a "terrine de legumes", which was about 2 cm by 5 cm. As plat principal we had "Cochon fermier" : 2 small pieces of meat of 5 by 5 cm. So , we ate there only once. We found much better restaurants (with normal portions) in Martel (nice little mediaval town 8 km form Meyronne)

We just wrapped a lovely 5 nights at La Terrasse. We stayed in room 6 and were very comfortable with an amazing river view. The room was very quiet. A special thanks for the exceptional food especially at dinner, on the terrace, though breakfast was very good too. The staff is very kind and helpful. The room and common areas were very clean and we would love to come back!

What a joy to return. Our third visit in 15 years. Francoise hasn't changed and she runs an impeccable hotel and restaurant - all to the highest standards. It is a privilege to be able to visit. Her hard work shows in the impeccable standards. Each time we drive away - we say - when can we come back. Beautiful location. Beautifully restored castle. Andrew & Edie
