ル マルヴェ ケイブ リトリート(Le Malve Cave Retreat)

Our stay at Alle Malve was absolutely wonderful. JonVito, the owner was the best. He helped us with finding the best sites to see when we arrived, helped us communicate with scheduling our guide the next day, directed us to an excellent restaurant, arranged a cab for us upon our departure, and provided us with a very nice breakfast. I would recommend Alle Malve as a great B&B if you are visiting amazing Matera.

Hotel is in a terrific location in the centre of the Sassi, all the views and attractions close, plenty close dining options, room was spotless and the breakfast was plentiful and very tasty, The owners and staff were very helpful with explaining local sites and arranged a great trattoria for dinner.. parking outside the ztl was close and cheap, overall very good hotel.

We stayed at Le Malve Cave Retreat for 3 nights on March 2024 and we really enjoyed our stay. Sara welcomed us and gave us some reccomendations on where to go and what to do during our stay in the city, it is always priceless to be made to feel welcome. Matera is an unbelivable city and just staying in this city is amazing, BUT (!) staying in this hotel made the experience so much better for us. It is located in a fastic place, short walk from everything, but quiet. Bare in mind we were travelling in March so I do not know if it gets more busy around during high season, but for us it was wonderful. The room was clean, bed was quite comfortable and the shower was good. Besst of all the room was very spacious and nice which was fantastic as during our stay we had 2 days of bad weather weather, but we didn't mind as we really got the experience just by cozying up in our cave. Our Room was Deluxe Trippla (room 16) and we really loved it. I would definitely book it again.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Le Malve Cava Retreat in Matera, situated right on the famous sassi area. The staff were knowledgeable and very accommodating. The room exceeded our expectations, being super comfortable and remarkably quiet. The breakfast spread was impressive, featuring genuine homemade cakes, local salumi, cheese, and excellent coffee. Additionally, the provision of transfer services to and from the parking garage was a thoughtful touch. A special thank you to Sara and the entire staff for their hospitality. We’ll be back soon.

beautiful hotel, the staff is extremely helpful. Room 28 is spectacular, clean, modern but with the charm of the caves. highly recommended.

What a great spot! The rooms are unique carved into caves but really great lighting and careful design ensure that you will not feel claustaphobic. The furnishings are lovely, contemporary and comfortable. The location was perfect with many fabulous places to eat within a few minute walk. Parking is challenging but we were directed to a reasonably priced garage a short walk away. Our hosts were terrific with so many helpful suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Continental breakfast was very good. I can highly recommend a stay here on your visit to Matera!

Getting here, or to any hotel nearby, is a bit of an orienteering challenge, but in the end it was a 7 minute walk from one of the more nearby parking spaces. We felt very welcomed by the staff who helped with suggestions for walks, lunch etc. The breakfast included in the price was very good, with a nice mixture of things. We had apparently paid for an upgrade, which, we learned on arrival, meant we would not be staying in a cave room—the main reason we had chosen this hotel. We got our own one-room house next to the hotel. Very nice room with a small balcony and super high ceiling. Still, we had looked forward to staying in a cave room. We appreciated the room amenities with coffee/tea maker, fridge, minibar, AC. It was super quiet and we slept very well.

Great place to stay. Very comfortable bed and clean room and ensuite. Breakfast was very good with a reasonable choice. Manager was very helpful with lots of information and suggested routes through Matera. Only problem was locating the hotel but the position was excellent.
