I stayed two nights here this week. I had reserved a room for single occupancy but had to pay the full amount which was for a triple room. I felt this was rather steep as I only used one bed, one set of towels and ate one breakfast each day. The room itself was well furnished and the bed linen was white and fresh. The bath towel was on the small side. The kettle and tea tray was very welcome but the provision of only 2 teabags was a bit meagre ( considering I was paying for three people). The bathroom was lovely and the shower powerful and the cubicle spacious. I was very surprised that neither the bedroom not the bathroom were tidied at all. I would expect the bed made and the wash basin cleaned as an absolute minimum. The bathroom window was directly behind the toilet so one had to keep the blind closed at all times. Frosted glass, at least in the lower half would be ideal. The breakfast was adequate. The layout looked very attractive but I was surprised to see “ shop-bought” Irish brown bread and tinned fruit. The tea and coffee was plentiful and very good. The cooked breakfast was pretty good. I ordered the small breakfast, ie one egg and one rasher etc. On the second morning I asked for some mushrooms to be added and they were. Although I should say it was as they served 4 quarters of a mushroom. The waitresses were charming and friendly. I would not stay again or recommend it as it does not represent value for money.
Stayed here for 3 nights. What a diaster. 8 couples not provided with rooms as requested. Staff not very helpful. Management said it was impossible to accommodate the 8 couples with rooms with walk-in shower as hotel was full. Large group leaving next morning and rooms would be available, but we would have to stay in the rooms allocated for 1 night. Not at all convenient. Large room, no charge point for phones, no toilet roll holder and no towel holder. Bed comfortable. Moved next morning. Some staff on duty at reception need to go to smile college. Again not as helpful as they could have been. 2nd room large n spacious. Would you believe there were 6 charging points for phones but still no towel or toilet roll holder. Where did you get 4 * from as not up to that standard. Bar staff run off there feet as there was only one on duty, brandy served in small glass, not a goblet, that’s not up to 4* . Goblets were sitting next to optics. Maybe bar staff should go back to school to find out what glass is for what drink. Food good n restaurant staff pleasant, especially Anna, who wasn’t on duty when we left although we had spoken to supervisor of restaurant to let her know about the service we received from this young lady. Won’t be staying again as the right hand doesn’t know what the left one is doing.

Knockranny is such a serene and restful place to stay. The rooms are the best in Ireland by far. Breakfast is fantastic. The pool and spa area is really well maintained. The staff are truly excellent.
Booked in to stay over a weekend with a Spa and dinner package. The massage I had in the spa was THE WORST massage I have ever had. It seemed to me that the masseuse was untrained as my 4 year old could have given me a better back rub. I was not asked if I had areas I wanted her to focus on, was not asked about my preference on pressure which just added to how bad the experience was. The masseuse was also really awkward. The food was good. But we were sat at a window and there were dead bugs on the ledge. We sat on the same seat for breakfast the next morning and the bugs were still there. The rooms were comfortable but felt they could have also been cleaner. It was evident there were bugs smashed into the walls and the remains not cleaned up. The balcony furniture was very scattered when we arrived (not that I've had cared but this was just another thing to add to the list). Overall, our stay was okay. The views from the restaurant and room were beautiful and we enjoyed the walking trails. However, I doubt I would return to Delphi especially after paying almost 900 for 2 nights.
We stayed at the Ellison last weekend as went over to Castlebar to see Christy Moore, we arrived before lunchtime, we had 2 suites booked and the the girls on reception couldn't have been more friendly, they said one room was ready so we could get in early to drop our bags. They also arranged a taxi for us to the airport on the Sunday and booked us in for breakfast. The hotel itself is lovely and our suites were bright and spacious, there were robes and slippers in both rooms, we had a king size bed and a single bed in each room along with a sofa and a mini kitchen. There is free water in the room, tea and coffee making facilities and free biscuits. The bathroom had a range of toiletries too. The hotel is in a brilliant location and is right behind the Royal Theatre, we heard that there was a walkway between the hotels but we didn't use this. Breakfast in the morning was lovely it was a help yourself buffet and the food was of a really good quality. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again if we were ever in Castlebar.
We had a lovely stay in the Diamond Coast Hotel from once we went into the hotel we were greeted by very professional staff. Went to our room it was a bit on the small side, but there was everything in it. It was exceptionally clean, the bathroom, shower etc was spotlessly clean. Went down to restaurant for dinner was greeted by a lovely young lady who couldn’t do enough for us the meal was just beautiful compliments to the chef loads of food and beautifully presented. Went to the bar afterwards staff once again very nice and helpful it was nice and cozy. Our overall stay was lovely will defo be back
DDorothy LThis hotel has certainly improved, the bed was comfortable, the room was spotless and the food was good. However, some staff require training in basic interpersonal skills. We were told we could have breakfast from 8 to 10am, went down at 9:30, the staff were snapping plates from our table, no bread for toast, when I requested more the waitress (with a New Zealand accent) reluctantly threw a basket with 4 slices on the counter and said we are officially closed now. We had a fabulous waitress at dinner the previous evening, she could teach the other waitress about basic manners and what is expected from staff working in the hospitality sector. When checking out the lady behind reception took the room keys and just muttered ”all good”, no pleasantries e.g. ”How was your stay?” ”Was everything satisfactory?”
Just back from a lovely two night stay at the Great National Hotel. My room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was a bit soft for my liking but that is just personal taste. The carafe of water in the room is a nice touch. As with every hotel I have ever stayed in there was a very limited selection of TV channels. I ate breakfast and dinner in McShane's on both days and although the menu is not extensive the food was delicious. The thing that really makes this hotel special is the staff. Every single person I encountered was friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. Would love to stay again if I am back in the Ballina area.
