Beautiful inn/Historic house walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. Very nice proprietors who accommodated my family of four and recommended great restaurants. Rooms are filled with antiques and it feels as if you are staying in a friend's guest suite. Reception area has complimentary snacks and tea/coffee and additional honor system food and drink for sale with a credit card reader.
We overall enjoyed staying at this restored, historic home. The interior design and furnishings were especially lovely, and we found the renovation pictures in one of the common rooms quite interesting. They did a great job with the 1990s addition and creating a charming courtyard at the same time. One of the highlights of our stay was the afternoon tea and breakfast. The selection was impressive in terms of quality, amount, and selection. Taking breakfast in the courtyard was lovely. The bathroom amenities were also excellent, providing a touch of luxury that we greatly appreciated. I especially appreciated the cruelty-free toiletries. The staff were all quite friendly and attentive. We did encounter a couple of minor challenges during our stay: -The shower knob was off when we arrived, and the receptionist alerted the maintenance person immediately. We locked our room and went for a walk. Later, we returned to find our room unlocked and cautiously entered--the maintenance guy was in the room doing the repair. He had entered the room when we weren't there and left the door closed behind him. It was a bit of a surprise. Maybe have a way to alert guests when staff are in the room? -The temperature control was a bit tricky; the window A/C unit didn’t have an “auto” feature, which made it tough to find a comfortable temperature for sleeping. We found it a bit too noisy to leave it running through the night, so we ended up sleeping a bit warm. Additionally, being located right on the main street means it can get quite busy with tourists during the day, leading to some noise that made it difficult to keep the windows open for fresh air. -Our sleep quality was also affected by the mattress--much too firm for our liking. This is a personal preference, so no stars off for it. But just be aware!
I had a really hard time with contacting this Bed and Breakfast. The communication was really bad. I was contacted with the house code a few days before arriving which I was thankful for. I was worrying we wouldn’t have a room when we arrived. I left many messages on the answering machine which seemed to go to somebody’s voicemail but no one answered my calls for some reason. This was all made up though when we arrived. The beautiful front door was open and the hostess was amazing. She attended to all of our needs. We had the master suite and it was very nice. The house is very well taken care. The outside well not so much. They have a fountain but it was shut down in June? The lawn and trees need some upkeep. There was a big log laying by the parking area. I’m not sure why it hadn’t been removed. All in all this was a great place to stay and in a good location for visiting the guilded mansions of Rhode Island. It is very close to shopping and sights. It is in town but you feel you are out by yourself. The breakfast was good. Basically, muffins, pastries and fruit. No eggs, sausage, bacon etc. The mansion was very clean and we enjoyed our stay. I wish that I could remember the wonderful house takers name because she is excellent. I believe she is the only gal working there so you will probably meet her if you stay here. It was fun to stay in an old mansion and we happened to be the only one’s around so it was like our own place.
KKay WI just have to say I had such a comfortable stay at this hotel. My room was very clean and done neat. The breakfast was great. The front desk was very friendly. One person that really stuck out to me was Hayley she cleaned my room to very high standards and went above and beyond. She made my room to perfection. She also left a little note on my bed that said ”have a great day” with her little business card. It really made my day. Everything was fantastic.
8893kyleoBooked a handicap room and had it stated in my email and it was given to another guest instead. As of that we where put on the second floor. I'm on a cane with limited mobility and also use a scooter as well. My mother is also on a cane and my father has heart problems. Because of this we where only able to barely able to get up the steps so we only got to do half of what we went for. Also because of this I wasn't able to charge my scooter so I only had limited battery life. Also couldn't shower and need my parents to get me off the toilet. Floors uneven trip many times. There's a three inch step down to the room and my father triped there resulting in a hairline fracture in his wrist. Horrible place. Then choice only refunded me half my stay. Never will I come to a choice hotel.
