As others have said the service is so disappointing. We had been thinking of going for years so finally did and feel rather numb about it, 24 hours after leaving. just not 5 star, should have known when you press the car park entry buzzer and someone says hello, you say ‘hi we are staying with you’ and then the gate opens with no ‘welcome happy to have you’ nothing. Presumably short staffed as pool closed (no life guard or for refurb we were told both reasons) . Lunch menu is very limited and food not hot enough but staff seemed to find it strange when we asked for the moussaka to be heated up as it was cold in the middle, no apology. We were very polite and didn’t receive the same courtesy. Just like Jane’s review in June last year it’s sad. It’s a beautiful place and could be lovely but there’s an air of something ‘down’ about the place maybe, a lack of energy or spirit. George the manager at breakfast asked us how our stay was and so we explained (we weren’t going to say anything) and he said he was sorry. Hope they can sort it. It should feel special but it doesn’t. We don’t like writing such a review ,it’s a shame as we were looking forward to visiting. The hotel and the grounds are truly beautiful. The breakfast is fantastic we must say, never seen anything like it, so much choice, a wonderful feast, it’s quite amazing.
