Relaxed, friendly home from home. This is a great place to start and finish a tour of Oman. Away from down town hurly burly, situated on a quiet coastal road, it’s easy to relax in the large communal areas on the ground floor and rooftop. The resident staff, Lana and Rona provide a simple breakfast and keep the drinks of water, tea and coffee flowing throughout the day. Oliver the manager is around most mornings and has extensive knowledge of Oman for those still planning their tour. Mr Ali the owner pops in and chats happily. Other residents, mostly European, make good company and share useful tips. Delightfully informal and flexible about length of stay and which room when not busy, especially helpful on check out day if you have a late in the evening flight. Downsides. You need a car or be willing to use taxis (Otaxi app. best value). There is not much within easy walking distance. The coast opposite although technically a beach is for local fishermen and is not pleasant for sitting on or swimming. Quite loud call to prayer from Mosque nearby. Perhaps the best rooms are those with a sea view and private balcony (only 2 available). We stayed in room 9 for 4 days at either end of our Oman holiday. It has the advantage of being priced as a standard room but access to the top floor large open area, so sea view and balcony but cheaper! Great value for money. We look forward to returning in the future.
