ウォーターランド(Waterland)

Very very nice hotel with very very friendly people. Our room was nice decorated because of our honeymoon. Private swimmingpool with a fantastic view. Our floating breakfast was great. The people are very helpful en nothing is to much for asking.

I have stayed at Waterland a total of 17 nights over 5 visits. After our last visit I advised the ownerdirectly that the private pools have badly designed steps, especially for the aged or people unsteady on their feet. The design of the steps does not allow foreasy access and especially easy exiting from the pool. I suggested that either a small railing be installed or maybe a large pot be placed in a position to make it easier for the aged or those unsteady on their feet. The attached photo shows that neither of these suggestions have been implemented in the last 12 months. This maybe because the owner has forgotten, or is just not interested in patrons safety, or it maybe it's because I am now classed as a persona non grata (a person who is no longer favored or welcome).

Spacious room with very comfortable bed. Nice outlook into small courtyard with plunge pool, which was very pleasant on a hot day. Evening meal was good, although no atmosphere in the dining room - we were the only diners - and limited selection of drinks available. Staff were very helpful and service was good.

We arrived (very) early after a long flight and were made to feel very welcome and offered drinks in the restaurant. The villa we stayed in was beautiful and the private pool made our stay with the children really enjoyable. We stayed for dinner, the food was delicious and the service brilliant. We would highly recommend a stay here after or before your flight to Colombo. Only wish we could have stayed another night. Next time. Thank you.

Such an amazing location next to the river, walking distance to the beach, tuk tuk distance (or walking) into Negombo. Peacock Villa overlooks the river, has a private pool, an upstairs deck, two huge bedrooms with huge en-suites. The staff are exceptional. Amazing value. Absolutely beautiful. Just 30 mins from the airport.

The best place we have yet been to. As a couple we value our privacy and freedom and there was it beyond our expectation. And we enjoyed our stay there 😉 the staff is pretty awesome and help full too. The room and the facilities were cozy. And we loved the private pool and the bathroom arrangement too.

What a glorious stay. My room looked over the river for a dreamy experience filled with a private pool, a floating breakfast, zen energy, delish fresh food and rich, lush natures abound. Stellar internet and a drink menu that will make you a slave to room service. Take me back.

We stayed at Elephant Villa, Waterland for our honeymoon, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Everything was so well thought out, from the stunning view, the dinner on the private deck, to the little details like the dental kits and the lovely rainfall shower. The staff were so friendly and always had smiles on their faces. We went on a boat ride, where an informative staff member explained the habits of the fisherman and the local fauna, while picking fresh fruit for us from the trees we passed under. The tranquility of this place was just what we needed after a very busy period. I loved sitting on the deck in the evenings, watching the giant fruit bats flock to a nearby fruit tree, the fisherman praying to the church before heading out to sea, while giving the resident cat some affection. We didn’t mind hearing the morning and evening prayers from the church opposite the villa or the occasional visits from local fauna on to the deck (nothing particularly scary, just geckos, various insects and butterflies, a little frog, and the cat of course). Overall, fantastic value for money and the best stay we’ve had in Sri Lanka.

From start to finish we were super happy with the service and experience for our two nights. We stayed in the two room villa one en-suite bedroom upstairs and one down stairs with a shared downstairs lounge and upper terrace with a lovely private pool with 4 sun loungers. The fresh fruit at breakfast was delicious and the coconut porridge with treacle and banana is lovely. We ate one night in the hotel and all four meals were very tasty. Nice ambience and very friendly staff. Highly recommend. The terrace overlooked the river and the Hamilton canal, lots of bird life and easy for boat trips which we did at sunrise and sunset. The fishing village was particularly interesting.
