ザ ドルフィン(The Dolphin)

We stayed at the Dolphin when we visited Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey)! It was a short cab ride from the hotel and easy to arrange a cab from them. The hotel is a pub downstairs with a courtyard garden out back. We had planned to eat dinner there but they were closed for food, but Newbury has a lot of options and an easy walk to downtown. Breakfast was good. We loved the herbal soap and shampoos. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our one night at the dolphin!

Love popping into The Dolphin when visiting Newbury and will stay overnight at some time. The rooms look great as does the menu. Comfortable bar and choice of ales. Good atmosphere and service and a nice garden with huts, plus a carpark onsite.

We stayed here for one night on our way to visit Highclere Castle, the set of Downton Abbey & we really found a little gem. We had a warm comfortable room, the street noise didn’t bother us, we had a delicious dinner & an added surprise of quiz night

We used the Dolphins event space to host our wedding celebration party - the staff where all courteous and diligent from start to finish, we had drinks and buffet nibbles. we had lots of compliments from guests and the evening ran smoothly. we stayed the night and the room was perfect. would highly recommend! Good service, Good selection of Beers and friendly staff. A great town centre venue to spend a lunchtime, very clean with a good atmosphere. The drinks are reasonably priced considering that it is a hotel. Well recommended, would go again

No drink menu at table despite booking online. Told we have to order at the bar for the first time but there is plenty of staff doing nothing. Drinks are very over priced. Menu is bland and doesn’t change month year to year. Strongly don’t recommend.

The room wasn't what we expected as this hotel was more expensive than others in the town centre. Room was very hot, tea and coffee making facilities but no mini fridge. Bathroom very small, shower not great and bath didn't drain quickly. Breakfast was really disappointing.

Amazing Place for Newbury races We stayed here for one night, as we had a day at the races and it’s only a 5-7 min walk to the station using the back enter ace, we were able to park our car free early and check in later, we just wanted to make sure the car was ok before check in as you can get a ticket, we went into the Dolphin and was Welcomed by the manager, the staff were so friendly and welcoming , we had a couple of Guinness before going racing to get us in the mood!!! when we returned we checked into our room which was clean and tidy, we meet some of our family members in the bar and the pub was busy and buzzing. We had a good night sleep and woke up to have a full continental breakfast which help yourself and fresh and nice, enough choice, then we checked out and had another chat with the manager, she’s lovely and sue a baby so wishing her all the very best. We will definitely be back because it’s a central location to everything.
