Super 8 by Wyndham Oceanside Downtown

Check in was a breeze. The room was perfect. As it should be since it is a completely newly remodeled hotel. They did a great job. The only thing that knocked it from a five stars down to four stars was the television. Could not get the Apple AirPlay to work, The smart cast or even hooking up the iPod directly. To top it off the Direc TV satellite TV didn’t even work. But like I wrote it’s a great hotel. It has a great location and they’re doing a good job.

Pros: The staff was wonderful, helpful and kind. The price was better than the hotels that are right beside it anyways. The 2 king beds were comfortable and the rooms were very large. The AC and fan worked well and helped drown out some of the noise from the roads. Cons: The room was very dirty. Don’t take off your shoes until you’re ready to tuck into bed as you’ll end up with black socks. The floors, walls and counters are all in need of a deep clean. There is a strong cleaning smell when entering the room, but we weren’t sure what was cleaned with it. Busy traffic noise on both sides of the building, though the back of the hotel was better than the front.

Great stay. Room was really clean and comfy. Desk staff was very friendly. It’s downtown Oceanside so it’s expected to be sketchy with weirdos in the area, no fault to the hotel at all.

When I arrived before 10 pm they told me my reservation was canceled because the card I put on file was declined. I selected ‘pay at hotel’ because I wanted to use cash. They ran my card instead before I got there and canceled my room. The woman was nice though and said she had 2 rooms available and would give me it at the same price. That’s all fine except I ordered a specific room. Whatever, I went with it. Room was clean other than blood on the sheets but they changed them when I asked.

I enjoyed my stay in the King Bed room. Big room. Mini fridge and decent size mini freezer to keep our beer cold. They have a microwave and dinner table for 2. It was convenient and close to everything. Harbor, pier, downtown Oceanside and Mission San Luis Rey right off the 76. Walking distant to a lot of food and shopping. Clean rooms. They have a soap and lotion dispenser at the sink. Shampoo conditioner and a body wash dispenser in the shower. Water was hot. It was quiet! Which was a surprise because it's next to the freeway. The lady in the morning was very sweet.

Check in was fine. The front desk person was helpful but the 1st room she put me in had no smoke detector. She seemed surprised but the wires were hanging from the ceiling. I was moved to another room with a smoke detector. One of the 1st things I noticed in both rooms was a very strong fake fragrance. I opened the windows to air the room out. It didn't totally go away and I almost checked out bc my asthma was triggered. Those fake scents are very toxic and are hormone disruptors. Please use essential oils for a fresh, clean, natural scent. They muse have recently updated everything and they used quality materials. So good on them for that. The floors were very dirty, full of hair and hadn't been mopped in some time. I never walk barefoot in those kinds of places and I'm glad I had slippers. So gross! It was busy Friday night and there kids running around playing loudly between 10-11PM. It was very hard to fall asleep. The exterior is cute. The description of ocean view is a lie bc there are lots of building blocking view.

Very mediocre place , stinky uninviting rooms , uncomfortable bed and pillows , but cheap for that reason . People wonder around asking for money . I would not even bother to review if they did not steal my favorite pair of shorts ( the maid , housekeeping person ) . I left them on the bed , found out the same day , called , of course they haven’t found anything . I had my shorts and laptop charger returned when I left them at other basic motels , so it’s a big red flag here !

The family that manages this location are very kind, accommodating. Coffee, snacks readily available. However, there was left over assembly screws and a razor blade left on the bathroom counter. Also, there was a dead cockroach on the floor upon arrival. If it was not for the staff this place would get a ZERO.
