Not the best at all wasn't happy don't know if I will be back sorry wasn't the best at all

The staff were wonderful and really helpful on arrival … the hotel is very tired but clean and the bed was really comfortable…

From the moment we arrived the staff had a friendly smile and welcome. We had a meal which was excellent. The cleanliness is amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.. We will be visiting again soon and will definitely be booking into Cardiff Gate

This is a perfect and budget-friendly place. The service was excellent. We enjoyed our breakfast and stay at the hotel Definitely would recommend!!!

On arrival the lobby was like the Mary Celeste, having waited for about ten minutes eventually had to shout out until a staff member finally appeared. Check in took a bit of time as the staff member had very limited English, but we were then allocated a room which, as soon as we opened the door, were hit with an overpowering smell of cigarette smoke (despite this being a fully non-smoking hotel). We were allocated a different room when we brought this to the staff member's attention, but he seemed to take this as a usual occurrence- no apology or explanation. The second room had only one towel for two people and the only drinking water glass in the bathroom had obviously been sat there for quite a while as it was mouldy! We were given a second towel and two clean glaases by the only staff member we saw that day. On returning to the hotel later in the evening the one man show informed us that the bar was closing in five minutes (it was 22:44) despite the Accor website stating the bar and restaurant were open 24 hours a say. Ordered a couple of pints of Stella and were presented with two nowhere near full glasses of flat cloudy yellow liquid. When we questioned the appearance of the drink he said it was normal and the cloudiness wasn't opaque but was, in fact, the "reflection" (of what, I dont know! He also said that the draught Corona was the same. We ended up having a couple of small bottles of Peroni (at £4.25 each). No hot breakfast in the morning, just "Continental" at £7.

Checked in was fine no wait as arrived late 10:30pm. TV image wasn't working so returned to reception told hotel was full booked. Said I'm surprised given car park was at even half full. He said will come n check TV. After insisting gave me another room.

Frequently use this location for work when in Cardiff. Sometimes arrive in the early morning so a helpful front desk is appreciated. Kudos for the electric charger as well.

Staff friendly and obliging. Improvement in the number of staff front of house could be considered. When there was a queue of people waiting to be checked in only 2 on duty and therefore no one was available to serve customers waiting at bar and food counter!
