オル ツカイ ロッジ アンボセリ(Ol Tukai Lodge Amboseli)

I got the distinct impression that in Amboseli, there aren't many places to stay so Ol Tukai doesn't try as hard as most of the other places we stayed at on our safari. The room wasn't as clean, and the quality of the food wasn't as good. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad and if I hadn't stayed anywhere else, I would have just chalked it up to being in the bush in East Africa. But after staying places like Sarova Lion Hill, Oldeani Mountain Lodge and even Embalaki which was a lot more "primitive" feel, Ol Tukai didn't compete with any of them. Our room was ok. The biggest issue is that with no A/C, it can get warm in the afternoons. That's true with a lot of places but most have a ceiling fan. Ol Tukai did too. But it was mounted so high on the vaulted ceiling that, even on "high", we could barely feel it moving any air. And it wasn't over the beds. But fortunately, when we were there, it cooled down at night, so we weren't uncomfortable sleeping. The food was ok. Lots of it with a good variety and again, if this was the only place we'd gone, I'd probably have thought nothing of it. But we had such good quality and selections at other places, Ol Tukai's chef(s) need to step up their game in the kitchen. But I also should note that the waitress we had at the table reserved for our group while we stayed there was wonderful as were all of the staff we dealt with. There is an electric fence around the property. But monkeys still get on the grounds so it's very important to keep the door to your hut closed and they warn you to not carry food on the way to or from your room because the monkeys will take it. But apparently, it's not just food but anything that the monkeys think might be food. My wife had bought a sealed bag of coffee and had it in a paper bag and was walking back to our room and a monkey thought it looked enough like a potential meal that it jumped her and tried to get the coffee. She valiantly defended her purchase, but the monkey had bitten through the paper bag and the coffee. She went back to the gift shop to get it replaced and the lady was very nice and offered to tape over the teeth holes in the coffee! LOL! My wife told her that she wasn't comfortable with that since the monkey had actually broken the bag with its teeth. The lady said she didn't have the authority to replace it, but she called someone and got approval to do so. Our joke was that we bet that bag of coffee got taped and put back on the shelf for some other unsuspecting tourist. After that, we checked every food item we bought to ensure that it was sealed, and the packaging hadn't been compromised and/or repaired. The other thing to know about it that since Ol Tukai is in a marshland environment, there are bug. It's not bad most of the time but at the lodge, when trying to have a drink at the bar it was terrible. The bar area and tables are open air. WOW. I was blown away by this incredible experience. The rooms were amazing, the views breathtaking. We had incredible staff, including Ronald who was our server for both breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed the pool, the bar, the food, and the a**osphere. Excellent location and a great start to our safari journey .

The staff was wonderful. The service was always top notch. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Every place we stayed on our trip was this way. I haven't travelled anywhere in the world where I felt as welcome by the staff as I have in Kenya and Tanzania. The rooms are a little dated, but everything was clean and perfectly functional. It had a sort of rustic feel to it. We had perfect views of Kilimanjaro while we were there. I would definitely recommend this place if you visit Amboseli.

What a stunning place!! We spent three days on safari and this was my favourite lodge. You can’t beat drinking a Tusker looking out on Amboseli and seeing elephants against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. The lodges were gorgeous and really spacious and the food was delicious. Only downside for me staying in a room with two teenage girls were the bugs!! Not a good combination!! Haha!

Beautiful hotel in the Amboseli National Park. Staff are really helpful and very friendly. Food is varied and delicious. Rooms are spacious and really cosy. The main entrance, the bar and restaurant are stunningly decorated. Even if this is a swampy area and it's hotter than other locations, the lodge wooden structure and all the plants and trees around, manage to cool down the heat. The location is wonderful! With the Kilimanjaro view on one side and the vast expanse of the park on the other with animals roaming around (this lodge is fenced, though). Highly recommend!

My mother sister and I stayed here for what was only supposed to be one night. After trouble with the safari company we picked we extended our stay to 2 nights. There was originally no space at all. However after the manager Kevin went out of his way to help he found room for us. The food is absolutely excellent. The kitchen staff, waiters/waitresses are extremely happy and attentive. Raphael in particular was absolutely amazing. He was constantly clearing our plates , making us tea and always made sure we made it to watch the Masai dancing in time. Anne and Isaac were great at helping us with our heavy luggage too. The rooms are clean and exactly the right size. We loved the little monkeys running around everywhere too. We absolutely loved our stay here and if we come back to Kenya for safari this accomodation will be top of our list.

Amazing place with beautiful scenery, animals and it’s very clean. They offer very tasty food, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rooms are so beautiful and have mosquito net and I really suggest this place. The pool is cool but I couldn’t use it unfortunately. They also offer the game drive and the have a nice shop for buying souvenirs.

The stay in the Lodge was amazing.It was our 1st wedding anniversary and also same day was my birthday.Thank an amazing decoration in our room and also an amazing celebration with the staff.Our room was always clean(Jackson amazing work),our check-in went smooth(Kelvin amazing work) for our dinning experience out of this work(Dennis you Rock my guy) and all the other staff."EVERYONE ROCK'

The property is beautiful - the problem is the bugs our room had lots of lizards and crickets. Dinning area too had lots of crickets. 1 fell in the food and they just scoped it out . I totally get this is not lodges fault and we are in nature we were quite freaked out and decided to cut our trip short and check out the next morning. we asked the hotel if we could get some kind off a refund and they denied. Our tour guy tried to talk to them too but they are very rigid about the cancellation policy. if you are afraid of crickets and lizards skip Ambosili and this property because of their refund policy In the united states if we had such problems and want to check out earlier they would have atleast given us a partial refund
