オテル ブリストル ポー(Hotel Bristol Pau)

It takes courage, vision and talent to patiently restore a very nice historic hotel that probably had gone to seed. The remake is stunning, elegant and a delight. With a pleasant staff, attractive art work throughout, thoughtfully redecorated rooms with tasteful updates in colors and furniture, they are hovering in four star range. The breakfast was really good. Kudos for having bread and pastries from local patisseries rather than the assembly line mass produced kind. Coffee, juice, jams, yogurt and fresh fruit all are of fine quality, unlike so many modern "business class" hotels. The miniature parking lot serves the purpose, but it is awkward when staff bicycles are parked xt to you. They should remember you can't open the passenger door with a handlebar next to your window! There are physical limits to rehabbing a bathroom. But they could have brighter lighting over the sink. It is a charming hotel, and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

Absolutely loved this hotel, its exactly what a boutique hotel should be. Wonderful service beautiful and tastefully decorated room. Our bed was large and comfy and the linen exceptional. Our breakfast was perfect, a small choice but all the basics and very good quality. I will go back in a heartbeat. We parked outside in the courtyard, its safe as its locked up but its probably a good idea to book in advance as there aren't many places within the hotel. Pau was a new discovery for us on our road trip through France and Spain and we loved it, very chic as is the hotel.

We have stayed at a couple of nice /ok hotel in pau but wanted a step up for this visit. I was a little skeptical of the gushing reviews for this place , BUT every word was true. The staff are super helpful, the rooms are gorgeous, the bathrooms are clean and mold free. There was some renovation work going on on our floor when we travelled ( bodes well for future stays) so we feared the worst. They were considerate and hardly noticeable. The owner personally apologized and recognized the minor inconvenience and did what he could to reconcile it. If nothing head going on this would still be a 4 -5 star review as it is I want to give it 6 stars!! Car park is available but limited requires booking and be aware of the gates locking. Yes the reception closes but only during acceptable times. The room we had was spacious, bathroom clean and lots of hot water. Bit of a gem this one.

From the moment I walked into the courtyard, I was in love.....As I walked up the beautiful steps and into the hotel, a beautiful smiling face rushed up to me and called my name. I have never been greeted with so much joy and kindness. My whole stay was a dream come true. The beauty of the hotel, every room inviting and tastefully appointed, the smiling faces of the staff, the service, the breakfast, wine in the drawing room in the evening. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful and happy . And Lucas, the owner, went above and beyond getting me a birthday cake when all the pastry shops were closed that day. He and the staff were always friendly and available . It was the most enjoyable, beautiful and wonderful stay of anywhere I've ever been. Thank you Lucas, Anaïs, Cecile & Maël for making my special birthday the best I ever had. I can't wait to come back.

Bizarre experience. Hotel has been recently updated, and the lobby and rooms look nice. Comfortable bed, good A/C. HOWEVER: the hotel shuts down for hours every day (11-2 pm and 22:00 to 7 am when we were there) and when shut it's SHUT, door is locked, parking is locked, no one answers and those trying to check in, store luggage, use washroom, etc. have NO OPTION. So basically it's a very upscale youth hostel. Not acceptable for someplace that calls itself a hotel and charges hotel prices. I would NOT stay again. (ps - we were not warned about this either....)

I think the previous reviews have said it all. Very central location, close to the free navette for city transport, private parking, gates locked at night for security. No noise in the room, corridor or outside. large, comfy bed and pillows. fast internet. Lift. quality continental breakfast. The only downside, a freezing cold bathroom, remedied however by the provision of an electric heater. The furniture and decorations all add to the pleasure of our stay many thanks

Extremely comfortable, ideally situated, wonderful staff. Room’s are well equipped and quintessential French. A charming period building. Breakfasts are lovely in a great setting. Balcony offers a great location for a cocktail. Home from home, and the staff could not be more helpful. To be recommended.

This is a lovely hotel with the kindest, efficient staff. Walk everywhere location with off street parking. Ample, fresh breakfast. Old world elegance, artfully designed. For this price point, clearly the best hotel experienced in 40 years if traveling to France!

This is a beautiful hotel. A lovely family room, clean & well presented. Breakfast was delightful (including a well priced children’s option) & the staff were great, kindly recommending routes and restaurants around Pau & allowing us to practice our French too.
