We had the exceptional experience of staying at The Alex - Monte Kastella at the beginning of May. We chose this hotel due to its convenient location near the Ferry Port (20 minutes away). Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm reception and a refreshing cold drink after our journey from the airport. Our room was lovely with great blackout curtains, with a very comfortable bed and extra pillows, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. After settling in, we headed upstairs to the amazing terrace restaurant and bar, where breakfast is also served, including delicious made-to-order omelettes. The food was outstanding, and the Greek white wine recommended to accompany our meal was perfect. I had the grilled fish and potatoes, and the dessert was Michelin-star worthy. It was a shame we were there only for one night, but we will definitely be back. This little gem near Athens is a perfect stop if you're heading to the port. We'll book it again for sure, see you next year!

This is an extremely nice hotel situated in a perfect location. Our stay and review are based on a Superior room You would be hard pressed to find an Athens hotel in a better location. You are right in the middle of all the action with shops and restaurants nearby. You are spoilt for choice. Although in a busy area we found the excellent double- glazed doors/windows kept any noises out and it was not an issue at all. Our Superior room came with a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities although that is not listed on their website. It may be worth e-mailing them if this is important to you. There was air-con but in March there was no need to make use of it so we cannot comment on its efficiency. The toilet/bathroom came with those tiny bottles of shampoo and body wash which we refuse to use on environmental grounds so we brought our own and used that. There was a sign saying that if the used towels were hung up then it was assumed that we were happy to reuse them. The cleaners replaced them daily regardless. The rooms were kept very clean. This hotel has much going for it. We grabbed a deal here at a very attractive price which included breakfast. The breakfast arrangements were in a fairly small area but we felt that a good selection was provided considering the space limitations. Plenty of fresh vegetable choices and delicious too. The Tomatoes and Cucumber just tasted so much better than we are used to. Cereals, bread, cakes, fruit and coffee from a machine. We looked forward to our breakfast every morning and didn’t grow tired of it. Minor gripes (being very picky). The over the bath shower was a mini battle in so much that it was prone to shoot water out onto the floor if you weren’t being careful. It could have been better but all we had to do was to adjust our showering habits and all was ok in the end. Our room had a balcony facing out to the street below. It would have been nice for a couple of chairs out there rather than just a large pot plant and the air-con unit for company. I did notice that no other balconies on other building had chairs out so perhaps that is just the Athens way. We had a Fridge in our room. Very welcome. A very close mini supermarket was the cheapest place we could find to buy water. E0.39 for 1.5 litres as I recall. We loved this hotel. All the staff were so nice and so helpful. I can’t remember all of their names but Irena and Eva come to mind. They helped make our stay wonderful. It had a curiously homely feel about the place. March time was a great time of the year as it was a pleasant day time temperature with it getting a bit chilly in the evenings. You could still dine outdoors but with a patio heater nearby. We loved Athens and have decided to return next March with the flights already booked. We will stay at the Plaka Hotel again. 5 stars from us
Not a 4 star hotel. 3 star at best. Room is a decent size along with it being clean. Had no hot water for the whole 5 days durations while me and my partner stayed here. Staff said to “try have a shower off peak times as too many people using the hot water at once” Which I dont want to be coming back mid day to have a hot shower. And obviously would like a shower in the mornings. For a hotel you 100% expect to have hot water. Complained about this issue few times but unfortunately couldn’t do much about it. For a 4 star they vastly need to update the boiler system. Hotel is in a horrendous location. I get you can’t do much about that and it’s my fault not doing a full research on the area. But there’s a lot of homeless, drunk/drugged up users around the area which you’ll see every time when walking back and to the hotel. Not pleasant to see. Streets full of rubbish and just dirty. Breakfast is average for a 4 star. Like mentioned the hotel it self was very clean and tidy. Room cleaned to a good standard each day. Couldn’t fault that. Would suggest other hotels to look for and spend a little more money doing so if you are sceptical on the area surroundings.
WWilliamgray81The hotel is really nice, clean, modern and right next to the port in Piraeus. It makes for easy access if going to the Greek islands. It's near a mall/eating area. I didn't visit, but it looks nice. All of the amenities inside are great and access to the hotel is easy. You need to contact the company beforehand by WhatsApp to get the codes to enter the building. It's a bit hidden behind the corner and not well marked. It's on the 6th floor in some old elevator, but it is fine. The only complaint I have is that they turn the power completely off when there are no guests. I understand that it saves money, but entering an apartment that hasn't been used for awhile means that the air is extremely hot, to the point that it will be unbearable for a few hours until the air condition properly works. It also only shoots in one direction, not facing the bed or couch, so it's a bit useless while you wait for it to cool down the place. Other than that, it seems like an ideal place to stay if just for a night and are planning to leave early in the morning.
ゲゲストAn absolutely delightful experience at the Piraeus City Hotel. My friend and I stayed for one night before taking our boat to Sifnos. We were warmly greeted by Nick and his charming colleague upon arrival and checked in quickly, after a long journey. The hotel is beautiful, spotless & stylish. Our room was bright and very comfortable. The hotel provides a tasty breakfast which was included. Nick was still on duty when we left for an early ferry, and bade us farewell, even printed out ferry our tickets! We will definitely stay at the Piraeus City Hotel on our next visit to Athens/Piraeus. Too bad we had only one night Highly recommended!
Fantastic staff, room and very close to port. Very friendly staff, handed bottle mineral water on arrival. Two double beds in room, immaculate! Within five minutes of arriving after a long day travelling we were sat outside with a beer & Aperol.
Just stayed at this seaside hotel after a cruise from Athens (Piraeus). We arrived rather early for a 2pm check-in but were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Room was spotless, overlooking the sea and everything we needed. Very central for swimming in the sea, strolling along the promenade, bars/restaurants, and the local circular bus route. Would definitely use again...
ゲゲストI stay here whenever I visit Piraeus. Staff are so friendly and helpful and rooms are kept spotlessly clean. The hotel’s restaurant is one of the area’s best kept secrets. I cant get enough of the Thai fried rice which you can order as a vegeterian dish or with chicken. They sometimes offer a home- made moussaka that is divine. Menu prices are very reasonable if youre travelling on a budget
ゲゲストThe location is very close to the Piraeus port, Will only cost around 5.00 euro for a urber ride. if you choice to walk, it is define within the walking distance of the Piraeus port. The room is very comfortable, with a lot spaces, got everything you will need for a quick stay, since mostly likely that is the reasons you pick this place. Is to catch the Ferry early next day. If you need a lot of services from the hotel, that is probably not for you, It is a more a self service hotels within a very quite neighborhood. It got quite a few restaurants around it, getting something to eat before your ferry would not be an issue. We missed our original scheduled ferry (7:00AM) , so my wife and I were at port without any place to go before we can check in around 12:00PM. After talking to the hotel owner, he made a deal for us to use another room until our regular checking in time for a very reasonable price. We will need that since we were bit deflated after missing our ferry by about 5 minutes. That is very nice for the hotel owner. Just for that, the hotel get a extra star.
