ザ ロッジ アット ポンチャ スプリングス(Lodge at Poncha Springs)

We loved this little lodge apartment! The Owners are great & have the right to be proud of the upgrades they have made to the old Lodge built in 1955! Kitchen very impressive with gas stove, frig, dishwasher; Nice dishes/ silverware,/glassware. I especially loved that they don't just throw everything people leave behind away, so there was olive oil, a few jar spices, some sugar and a bit of flour, coffee. I made rolls on the marble pastry board with marble rolling pin, & her knives are sharp! Cute little fake fireplaces kept the place toasty so we never lit the furnace. TV and WIFI were great, so hubby was able to work remotely. Made Steaks on the private grill. "Sit n' bull" around the lovely firepit in the lit up courtyard at night. Place sleeps a lot with bunk beds - queen room, couch bed. Spotlessly clean too. Shower has nice rain-shower head with massage dial. (Dawn (owner) even offered to come at 7 am to make coffee if I needed it, & to empty any trash. ) Towels are nice quality, bedding so comfy! Many upscale touches just like the Marriott level hotels, like the wall mounted shower soaps, art too. We plan to stay again in the Bird's Nest Suite to go river rafting in June. You can walk to winery, a steak house, a food truck and small food venue with ice cream cones. Note - Dawn does have discount coupons to the hot springs, etc. Easy drive to Monarch to snowboard/ski. Loved our visit. Completely recommend!

3 nights in snowy January 2024. The lodge has been recently renovated by the new owners, and you immediately feel at home. The rooms are warm and comfortable. But what can I say about the owners without getting too emphatic? They are quite simply the most charming hosts we've ever met. These people don't give the impression that they're doing business, but that they're simply happy to do what they do and to welcome you. We'll definitely be back for the simple pleasure of seeing Dawn and Jimmy again.

Dawn and Jimmy are wonderful! Checking in was an easy and smooth process. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The lodge is only 20 minutes from Monarch ski resort and 10 minutes from Salida. This little motel is a great base camp for Salida adventure. There is a great food truck right next door for breakfast and the lodge is walking distance to one of our favorite breweries. I can’t recommend the Lodge at Poncha Springs enough!

10/10. Dawn is a great host and it’s an affordable way to have a lot of fun people collocate and have private space. Salida is nearby. A winery. A brewery. Hiking. The place is dog friendly and they mean it. There’s skiing and there are mountain hikes.

This place was a GEM! I don't normally leave hotel reviews, but this was a little roadside paradise. The owners just clearly love this place and it shows. Ww sat by the firepit out back and watched the sun set over the mountains. In the morning we took super hot showers and then got homemade burritos and dirty chai from the food truck just next door. It just felt homey. Five stars, loved it!

We stayed one night here. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a fire pit and courtyard out back that we throughly enjoyed. The owners were very friendly and took time to visit with us. We didn’t realize how close it was to Salida until we got there. We would definitely stay here again.

Perhaps others were looking for rustic and got it here, hence the positive reviews. We stayed for one night and found it quite lacking for the price we were charged. Yes, it is being slowly fixed up by the owners (trying to save money), but the quality of the work is not very professional. The window air conditioner unit inserted in a double-hung window was not sealed up adequately. The room door had a half inch gap that could let in insects, rodents and cold air. But the most disturbing event occurred just after we checked in. Our reservation was honored, but a couple we were traveling with arrived 20 minutes after us and were told their room had been double booked and they had no accommodations for them. The owner claimed she had tried to reach them two weeks earlier to tell them, but no message was received (they were on the road from the east coast to Colorado). Considering we both made these reservations in late APRIL (4+ months earlier) and were charged one night's stay at that time, why was our friends' room given to another guest? Very unprofessional and unfriendly treatment. And my friends had to request that their room deposit be refunded. The owners never initiated the refund when they sold the room to others. Borderline dishonesty in our opinion. All other hotels in Salida and Pagosa Springs were fully booked, so they had to drive another 90 minutes in the dark to Canon City where they found accommodations (but without any help from The Lodge at Poncha Springs owners).

Totally love this place. Stayed 1 night, Dawn (owner) was fantastic, beds very comfortable & spacious, loved the surrounding area, food, firepit, & the Flamingo (food truck) next door for breakfast was to die for. We booked the lodge at Poncha Springs after taking the Cumbres & Toltec railway, excellent choice folks, can't go wrong !!!

Exactly what we needed for a quick stay before an early morning hike. Felt a little pricey. People were very friendly and clearly care about the property and about their work. The window in the door let in a lot of light from the parking lot at night. Some sort of shade would be helpful.
