Collina Plantation Inn

A couple of miles off the Trace, somewhat easy to get to. You go around the Ranger’s station and onto McComb…which was a scary road. But that only lasted less than a mile, and then you are on quieter streets. The roads are a little beat up, but ok to cycle on. Crossing Church street was a bit scary as it’s a busier street, but I managed it ok. The driveway up to the Plantation house is gravel and very steep and was the only time I had to get off the bike and push it on the whole trip. 
 I was welcomed by Scott and his wife Katie. Katie gave me a tour of my room, the Jane Stamps room, which was very comfortable indeed. It had everything I needed there. There was a microwave and fridge, cups and coffee provided, as well as a snack basket. And I have to tell you, that snack basket was fantastic! The almond butter granola cookies! The trail mix! The granola bars! And the chocolate. I hadn’t had chocolate for nearly two weeks at this point so was utterly delighted to see it. That snack basket was a source of much joy. =) Katie kindly washed my clothes, and upon my request returned my clothes wet so I could hang them…except she’d already put them on hangers for me! So very kind and thoughtful! I had a comfortable night’s stay and was on my way early the next morning. 

If you decide to stay at Colina, I recommend booking well in advance. I think I was very lucky to get in when I could! But they were booked up for 2 1/2 months after my stay. A popular place!

We stayed here one night as we made our way back home from a cross country trip and went off course about 30 minutes and boy was it worth it. Beautiful old Greek Revival home with lovely furnishings, welcoming garden, great breakfast and excellent host in Scott. If you are looking for a change up from your typical interstate hotel, or traveling more of the backroads of MS, this place is for you!!!
