The 'Grand Tasman' is an old building. As such you are expecting a historic place full of nostalgia, with a few 'hipster quirks'. Sadly, what you find is a poorly maintained 'run down dump'. The bar & reception staff are excellent. They are let down by accommodation rooms with damaged walls, peeling paint, dripping taps, dirty bed sheets and worn carpet. They charge 'top dollar' by the way to stay. When entering my room, I was genuinely concerned for bedbugs etc and would have checked out immediately if not for my travel timeline (GW Sharks experience in 8 hours, which was totally excellent & recommend). The Tasman web site photos are not reflective of the current state of the hotel (now under new management I understand from reviews I have just read as of Jan2024). These issues are easily fixed with some maintenance & replacement of carpet etc. However, i paid quite a bit to stay and felt very 'ripped off'. My room was classed as 'executive room'. The pull-out couch I slept on was broken & filthy. I slept only after spraying with ”Aero guard' for fear of bed bugs.
Super clean, conveniently located and fantastic view and ambience private space a few metres to to the waterfront.
Everything you absolutely require in a holiday accomodation
Bed was comfortable and a pull out sofa couch made it so comfy to watch movies and have a view of the waterfront. Will definitely book here again without a doubt
Modern and comfortable facilities. Everything we needed was available in the rooms. Lovely linen and towels, comfy beds and furnishings. Travelling with our adult daughter and having a private bedroom for her in the one apartment made our 5 night stay very comfortable. Views of the sunrise on Boston Bay from the balcony were a joy.
Thank you for finding us a room at the last minute! Arrived late wasn’t sure what to expect but for an older style motel it was perfectly fine! It’s not 5 star but very clean & the bed was comfy We had an upstairs room - so be conscious of taking bags upstairs but their were several downstairs rooms! Parking was easy & the restaurant was busy we had already eaten so didn’t dine in but the meals looked nice & big. Would def return next time we are in the area Appreciate your hospitality
This hotel is located outside the Port Lincoln city centre. Without a vehicle, it is a 30 minute walk to the city centre. There is a small grocery nearby. The Marina Hotel has a restaurant, bistro and bar, which were good. However, there are not many other dining or entertainment options nearby. It is a quiet area with not much else going on. I would not recommend staying here more than 1 night. You might get bored. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was clean. The room amenities were more than adequate. Staff were friendly. FOR RODNEY FOX SHARK EXPEDITION CUSTOMERS: We stayed here after completing our Rodney Fox shark expedition for 1 night. For Rodney Fox customers, please note that boarding of the boat no longer occurs at the marina near Marina Hotel. Customers are only picked up here and driven somewhere else for boarding. There is no added convenience of staying at the Marina Hotel after the trip. All the hotels in Port Lincoln as valid options. You will be driven from the boat to whichever hotel you book.
