ザ ポエツ イン(The Poets Inn)

Simple, clean,central. We stayed only one night, en route to Vigo. Breakfast was included, basic, clean, friendly place. Taxi was pre-arranged, cost 23 euro. Driver asked for 33 euro. We were tired after a long day travelling and did not question. Told reception in Poets inn, who was very disappointed at this. I have read that taxi drivers are famous for this. I know all are not into rip off, but be careful. Be assertive and state the cost.

Staff went above and beyond, from pre booking restaurants to gifting a lovely bottle of port on my birthday. Great location in Old Town with many bars and restaurants nearby. Cannot recommend enough. Prices are excellent and breakfast is included

Suggerito dalla Lonely Planet, questo ostello in posizione centrale a Porto presenta camere doppie con bagno privato. Le camere sono semplici, ma pulite e moderne, il letto è comodo e il bagno è anch’esso semplice ma arredato con cura. La colazione è varia e a buffet. Consigliato per il rapporto qualità/ prezzo

Foi minha 2a estadia. Fiquei no Alba: quarto confortável, limpo, espaçoso, bem decorado e com uma vista INCRÍVEL. O banheiro era enorme, limpo, com um chuveirão e uma bancada imensa. Quero agradecer novamente toda a GENTILEZA da Isabel: a alma do lugar. Voltarei e recomendo. Ah! A localização não podia ser melhor.

Reservamos la suite clásica y la verdad que de suite no tenía nada. Había pelos encima de las almohadas, una de las fundas estaba manchada de tinta. No funcionaba el aparato de aire caliente y pasamos muchísimo frío por la noche, pero como la recepción cierra a las 12:30 de la mañana no tienes con quien hablar. La habitación olía muchísimo a humedad y de hecho las sabanas estaban húmedas. No había televisión en la habitación. El desayuno muy justito. Lo único bueno es la ubicación y las chicas de recepción que eran amables.

Si nous avons apprécié la situation, la propreté de cet établissement et la qualité de la literie, en revanche nous avons été déçus sur d’autres points : accueil inexistant (seulement quelques heures le matin par une personne ne parlant pas le français), petit déjeuner très sommaire et insipide, salle de douche partagée peu éclairée. En outre aucun geste commercial ne nous a été proposé alors même qu’une grosse Inondation du rez-de-chaussée ne nous a pas permis de prendre le petit déjeuner un matin (nous étions cinq).

Looking at the reviews now I see most of them are from quite a few years ago &they are living off that reputation. I understand with Covid it has been hard to keep a business going but let me assure you They have overdone it . bleach is unhealthy and the amount that they used in that room made it unlivable. I basically got toxic chlorine poisoning from staying in my room not to mention all the mildew that was in the hallway. I had to wear a mask coming and going and could only stay in the bathroom for about 30 seconds with a mask on, it was so strong I had a headache after five minutes and four days later I am still not feeling well . That said the rug in my room needed to be replaced, ( dirty) & it had a giant hairball on it, the towels were mildew stain & felt like sandpaper. This ruined the whole experience and my vacation.. So read the reviews carefully and scroll way down when you’re checking someplace out. Lesson learned.

Lovely place to stay in! The location was perfect, very walkable to every main attraction and lots of restaurants. Check in and check out was super easy and everything was clean. The breakfast offered was also a nice touch. Highly recommend!

First of all it is Hostel and no elevator. We arrived our first day and ask them to get us a taxi, no one show up at airport. Then we got to the Hostel and no one was there they gave us instructions via email, so I went to check the email, mind you, it was 540pm on a Thursday. Then we got to the room, towels were old and stinky. Next day the breakfast was only, pieces of ham and cheese, bread and water coffee and water “orange juice”. We request that morning before we left new towels, they picked up our towels from the floor wet and fold them for us to use them. Went down the stairs and no one was there. I complaint in the morning next day about the towels and our last day and night when we came back at 7pm, beds were done and brand mew fresh towels for us 3, no one was there at the reception desk. We left the next day and no one was there either, their reception hours were from 8am to 12 midnight as of the reception young lady, but no one was there after 3pm or 5 pm no of the 3 nights we were there.
