4.5/5 – Outstanding value with one of the best hotel gyms I've ever used.
I've returned to Hotel de l'Amour several times, and that's probably the strongest recommendation I can give. If a hotel consistently delivers a good experience, I keep coming back.
The standout feature is the gym. It is genuinely one of the best hotel gyms I've used anywhere. It's a fully equipped fitness centre with a wide range of resistance and cardio equipment, making it suitable for serious training rather than just a quick workout.
The rooms are spacious, exceptionally clean and well maintained. The bathroom offers plenty of storage space, the shower has excellent water pressure and consistently hot water, and housekeeping does an excellent job throughout the stay.
The swimming pool is clean, peaceful and never overcrowded. It's a great place to relax after training or sightseeing.
Staff throughout the property are consistently friendly, welcoming and professional.
One pleasant surprise is the food and beverage options. Cafe de l'Amour serves excellent coffee and desserts, and you're also able to order dishes from the neighbouring Delamour Kitchen while remaining seated in the café, which is a very convenient touch.
The massage service also deserves special mention. It offers some of the best value for money I've experienced. The therapist applies excellent pressure for a proper deep tissue massage without leaving you feeling battered afterwards.
There are only two areas that stopped this being a perfect score.
Firstly, because the resort surrounds a beautiful man-made lake, mosquitoes are unavoidable, particularly after rain. The hotel supplies mosquito repellent and electric repellents in the rooms, which is appreciated, but guests should still expect the occasional bite.
Secondly, the bathroom lighting is far too warm and dim. It creates a pleasant atmosphere but makes shaving or applying makeup surprisingly difficult. Brighter, more neutral lighting would make a significant improvement.
I don't normally book hotel breakfasts, so I can't fairly comment on that aspect of the property.
Overall, Hotel de l'Amour delivers excellent value for money. Rather than relying on flashy marketing, it focuses on clean rooms, excellent facilities, outstanding fitness amenities and genuinely friendly service. I'll happily continue staying here whenever I'm in the Prakhon Chai area.
