L'Ancienne Auberge

This was a very charming hotel. The staff was very friendly. The bed was very comfortable. We greatly enjoyed our stay and the village. I feel like this is a special place and it was a special experience. However things to be aware of there is not air conditioning. We opened a window and with the ceiling fan found the temperature to be pretty comfortable. There is a clock tower right outside the hotel. They ring the bell once for every hour and then again 1 minute later so at midnight the bell rings 24 times. It also rings once on the half hour. If you are a light sleeper and your windows are open this could be a problem. I am a heavy sleeper it didn't bother me much. My husband ended up using his noise canceling head phones. There is a blow dryer but it was so weak I didn't even try to use it. Last note this isn't about the hotel per se the village is small there are only a couple restaurants. Dinner reservations should be made in advance.

This wonderful auberge is situated in one of the most scenic bastide towns in France. The owners, Greg and Sophie, were extremely helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The room we had was on the second floor and had amazing views of the countryside and the town square. The room was very clean and I particularly enjoyed the bolster pillow on our queen size bed - very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and we made the excellent decision to dine at the auberge for our evening meal - which was cooked by Greg and was outstandingly good.

It was purely by chance that I came across and booked L’Ancienne Auberge while looking for somewhere to stay near Albi. I have to say that we struck pure gold. The hotel is in a stunning walled village with outstanding views. Greg and Sophie who run it are a delight. Nothing was too much trouble. We arrived at 9pm and Greg had said that he would give us something simple to eat on arrival. This meant a two course meal! I recommend that you eat in the hotel in the evenings. The food is all home cooked and very good. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The village is rated as one of the most beautiful in France which it certainly is. Easy to walk around, amazing views, pretty good parking even if you have to walk a little way sometimes. We had the most marvellous three days there and would recommend the Auberge and Puycelsi without hesitation. Merci Greg et Sophie

Nous étions 8 amis à la découverte de la région. Nous avons passé 3 nuits à l'hôtel et pris trois diners : tout a été parfait ! Accueil chaleureux, sourire et attention permanents,Rien à dire que Bravo ! Nous avons tous apprécié la gentillesse et la disponibilité de Sophie et Greg ! Ne changez rien, c'était top ! L'accueil de Sophie et Greg est vraiment sympa, elle a un rire communicatif imparable et lui a la bonne humeur chevillée au corps. Voilà deux personnes qui aiment leur métier et le font bien, Nous étions un groupe de 8 amis et nous avons passé un séjour super. Le lieu est magique, les chambres sont spacieuses et propres, la cuisine est délicieuse pleine de surprises. Si vous aimez le calme et la douceur de vivre, nous recommandons absolument.

Lieu parfait pour les amoureux des vieilles pierres et des gourmets! Sophie et Gregory sont des personnes attentionnées qui partagent volontiers leur amour pour leur région et leur terroir…Un échange authentique se crée au sein de cette ancienne auberge confortable et coquette ❤️ Je recommande vivement 👍

Un bug de Tripadvisor «  m’oblige » à réitérer le plaisir que nous avons eu à passer une soirée et une nuit dans ce lieu magnifique : qualité et authenticité de l’accueil par un couple très sympathique, belle table, conseil sur les vins et très belle chambre avec vue panoramique sur le village. Que du Bonheur !

Quelle belle étape ! Un accueil chaleureux, un couple authentique et passionné par son métier, un repas délicieux, une belle bouteille de Gaillac avec un bon conseil et en prime la chambre Nid d’Aigle, spacieuse, avec une bonne literie et une vue magnifique sur les toits de ce splendide village médiéval : Merci !

Greg et Sophie ont réussi à réunir en un même lieu : un accueil chaleureux, un service professionnel, une délicieuse cuisine soignée et recherchée avec d´excellents produits du terroir. Tout cela avec un hébergement confortable dans une belle bâtisse au cœur du joli village historique de Puycelsi. Nous sommes enchantés de ce séjour. Merci.
