サマウサ ホステル & ホテル(Hostel & Hotel Samocca)

My family of four stayed at the Samocca for two nights in June 2022. We were in Quedlinburg for a family event and ten other relatives (three families) stayed at the hotel as well. We had one hotel room and three hostel rooms in total. The hotel is very stylish. The building is a beautiful old half-timbered house, but the rooms are styled in a modern, coffee-themed fashion (as the business includes a coffee roasting facility and café). My family stayed in the “Brasilien” hostel room which is very spacious and can accommodate up to eight people. There are an extendable double bed in the main room and four single beds on an open gallery up a steep flight of stairs. The room was well-equipped for a hostel room with two TVs for the main room and gallery, free Wi-Fi, a hair-dryer and an extra sink outside the bathroom, which was convenient for washing one’s hands or brushing one’s teeth while the bathroom was occupied. I saw the three other rooms my relatives stayed in as well and they were all smaller than ours, especially the double room in the hotel part. Furniture and amenities were the same in the hotel and hostel. Breakfast was very good. The coffee was excellent! Guests had to choose from a breakfast menu in the evening for the next morning. Breakfast was served at the tables in the café or the lovely courtyard, weather permitting. We chose the “group breakfast” which consisted of bread, bread rolls, croissants, cheeses, cold cuts, butter, jam, honey, fresh fruits, tomatoes and cucumbers, boiled eggs, fruit juices and coffee. Extra items like yogurt could be ordered free of charge and as much coffee as one wanted chosen from the coffee menu. The hotel is conveniently located right in the old town. There are many shops and restaurants close-by. It doesn’t have its own parking, but there is a public parking lot with reasonable fees right across the street.

The hotel in itself was an amazing experience, as it was a very historical place with low ceilings and loads of a**osphere. At our checkin the service was not very friendly. My wife made the checkin while I parked the car, and she do not speak very much German, and when she tried to communicate with the clerk in english he seemed almost offended. However the next day, the service was a lot nicer (from a different clerk) and overall it was a nice stay.
