I had a great stay at The Westin RDU. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Starbucks in the lobby is a nice perk as it has many places to sit and do work or meet a friend. The gym and pool are AMAZING!
We stayed here for a weekday concert at the PNC Arena, a pleasant and easy 15 min walk. It is an okay midgrade chain hotel that charges for the access and convenience rather than amenities. We arrived at 5:00 and were told our room was not ready (check in is at 4:00) and got a free coke for our 20 minute wait. It seems they are suffering from lack of housekeeping help and the front desk had no idea what the housekeepers were doing. Everybody who checked in had to wait. The front desk was very friendly but did not seem to be in charge. Since the PNC Arena charges $40 for parking it seems this hotel has just added that to their room price, i.e. an overpriced room for the privilege of the walking convenience. The small bar was overwhelmed by the post concert crowd, but to the lone bartenders credit, she stayed open late (post 10:00) and kept the drinks coming. The room was large and clean after waiting a while for the lone elevator, okay HVAC, comfortable bed, but the pillows were horrible flat chunks of foam. The $10.75 breakfast (mediocre although real eggs and over cooked sausage) should have been included for the inflated room rate. It's worth paying for the convenience for the PNC but we wouldn't stay there if not for that reason. You can find the same quality for less not too far away, but then you'd have a commute and a $40 parking charge. Name your poison.
My church had their 19th convocation in this hotel. I took my 10 year old niece. I stayed from Wednesday night to Saturday morning 3 nights. I had to change my room twice. The first room AC was not working and there was a heat wave. The second room had bed bugs and the bugs ate my sweet nice up. She was bit on her face, hand and arm. Also, the conference room that the church conference was held in had no AC. It was a miserable stay at this hotel. People from 4 other rooms were also bit during my stay there.
My six year old daughter and I came to Raleigh for an overnight girls’ shopping trip while her brother was at sleep away camp. This property came recommended from a colleague who frequently visits. I cannot say enough, good things about how convenient it is to the different places we were trying to go. Being Wolfpack fans, our Bell Tower view did not disappoint! More that, our experience was made by the front desk attendant, Dwight. He could not have been more friendly and welcoming, particularly to my daughter. He asked her name and used her name whenever he saw her on property. It made her night when we came back from shopping and he called out to her. He truly went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable- she was like Eloise at the Plaza!
This hotel tries to be modernist. However, many things and services don't meet the standards. My husband and I are staying in this hotel. On the first day, there was no cleaning service. The housekeeping staff locked our door, and when I asked her to come back in 2 hours, she never did. You should also check your room for cleanliness. I found many small dirt spots on the floor, and the room was not cleaned during our 4-night stay. If you are a more traditional traveler, this hotel does not have a closet or dresser for you to put clothes in. Basically, you are living out of your suitcase. If you are staying for just a day or two, it might be fine, but for three or more days with a spouse, I would not recommend it. The hotel restaurant is called ”GOOD DAY GOOD NIGHT.” If you go there for breakfast, your ”GOOD DAY GOOD NIGHT” will turn into a bad day. We left the restaurant completely disappointed and hungry. If this is a Marriott hotel chain, what is the Marriott standard for this particular hotel? My husband and I went to the restaurant for breakfast on the day we checked out. The server was nice and friendly. She took our order for coffee but tried to avoid taking our breakfast order because the chef instructed her not to take orders until he was ready. However, we waited for more than 20 minutes and tried to get her attention for our order. That's when we found out the situation. We were completely shocked.
Room 716 was fine for a week while working in the 2024 campaign. Clean, Keurig, basic toiletries, good wi-fi, hotish shower, comfortable bed (with no bedbugs). It’s true that the room is sparce, just one elevator for 20 floors, the complimentary breakfast is a joke – the large dining room suggests there once was a breakfast that consisted of more than small pre-packaged muffins, coffee and water -- the bathtub scarred, the “Serve yourself” drinks outrageous and the front desk unfriendly. But the neighborhood is leafy and quiet and there are two good restaurants next door (Taverna Agora and Second Empire) and a good seafood a bit farther – 42nd Street Oyster Bar. I got what I paid for but my more discerning wife would have had us out of here in minutes.
As a titanium elite MARRIOTT member, I need to bring recognition to the front desk colleague named Joy she is an amazing warm wonder person and is an asset to the Marriott family The staff at this hotel are warm and welcoming. I highly advise the Sheraton Raleigh Durham.
JjohneL1022XIStayed here for a wedding in Raleigh. Staff was excellent. The place was clean. They had a pool table in the lobby which I think is a nice addition. It's nothing major but most hotels don't have such a wide open lobby with a pool table. FREE breakfast was delicious and lots of options. Pool was closed for the season but seemed nice. Maybe a little small. Exercise room seemed a little small but seemed clean and equipment seemed up-to-date. 10-15 minutes to downtown Raleigh. The surrounding area is very well stocked with a grocery store, coffee shop, a nice park, lots of restaurants within walking distance. Will definitiely stay here again if i'm ever in Raleigh. Also family friendly.
ゲゲストEverything was great until...... My wife and I checked in Thursday for 3 nights. Upon check in, we were taken care of by Maria. Very sweet, attentive and had us on our way in no time. Thursday night was fine. Got up and went about our business Friday morning. Came back to the hotel Friday evening, head to the room and fell asleep quick. Then came Saturday morning. My wife is disabled, and we were on the 5th floor. We got to the elevator and waited about 4 or 5 minutes, and nothing happened. I called the front desk from my personal phone (the phone in our room wasn't hooked up) Was unfortunate to get a front desk person by the name of Kwamel. Very unprofessional individual. I asked if there was a problem with the elevators. He said yes, there were not working. I asked him how we were supposed to get downstairs. He directed me to where the stairs were. I advised him that my wife is disabled and not able to walk down 5 flights of stairs. In his own charming way, he had no other answer for me. I hung up and had to help my disabled wife down 5 flights of stairs with her walker and our cooler for the day. Took us about 25 minutes to get to the bottom as my wife had to take one step at a time holding on the guard rail with both hands. I had to stand under her so she wouldn't slip and fall. When I got to the front desk, I inquired how long they would be out. My wife and I were going to be at a convention all day but obviously needed them working before we got back later that night. Mr. Personality had no idea. I inquired what we were supposed to do if we get back and they are still not working as there was NO WAY my wife could WALK up 5 flights. He was very unsympathetic and showed no compassion whatsoever. There was another rep behind the desk. She kept quiet for a while which was probably better for her. She finally asked me to come to her. She looked in her computer and long story short, if they were not fixed by the time we got back we had a room on the 1st floor waiting for us. I would just need to clear everything out of our current room which of course I would. That reps name was Karen. She was very nice, polite and showed an interest in helping us. Kwamel showed NO SIGNS to help. He just stood there with his shirt untucked and looked like it had been slept in. Instead of being part of the solution he kept telling me no. Wonder if he would have felt the same way if it was his mom or his grandma that was disabled and had to walk down 5 flights of stairs. I called Karen later in the day and was told they got 1 side working but the other wouldn't be looked at until Tuesday (holiday weekend) I am very surprised they wouldn't have someone on call 24 hours a day in case something like this happens. Doesn't say much about how much they care about their guests. Got back to the hotel at around 8PM. We were greeted by Daniel. We told him what took place that morning. He was VERY apologetic and showed much sympathy. Kwamel should really take some notes from
MMichael RIf I could give this location a negative 5 if I would. Please do not stay here people. FAIR WARNING This was the worst experience I've had in a hotel motel or nay kind of Inn. stayed at Red Roof for Dreamville in early April and this was the only ”affordable place.” As I look at the current prices per day I see that due to the event, prices were gouged by a large margin. That's not the surprise. This place was infested with roaches and ants. There was rust and peeling paint in numerous locations in the room and sounds coming from the lights. There were serious smells coming from the room like mildew or old over used furniture. The photos in the advertisement are FALSE and give the appearance of something better than it is. I have photos and videos in which i will post if this issue is not resolved. The staff was not present the whole weekend until Monday morning when I checked out and had to fly back home. As someone who has worked in hospitality and hotels for 15 years a full refund should have been offered but instead a very low and unacceptable one was offered. When I refused all communication from their end stopped and I was forced to battle this with my bank. Please advise this company breaks its own policy and does not rectify the situations being made aware by the guest, paying to stay there. Please do not stay here people.
