ザ・レイクサイド

We stayed in the room at the very top. It had a window built into a sloping roof. I am 6 ft 3 and could just about make out a sea view from it. My wife is five ft nothing so had no hope. That window could do with a clean as it was the only source of natural light in the room. The lamp in the room didn't work. Some of the furniture in the room was also past its best and my wife didn't find the beds comfy although me and my daughter thought they were fine. The shower was ok but the whole room could do with a refurbishment. The other rooms I've seen pictures of on here look much better so maybe we just got unlucky. On trip advisor it also says this hotel has free parking which isn't the case you have to park over the road aprox 500 meters away it's 5 quid for 24 hours. I didn't feel very good about leaving the car there overnight it's very open and not very secure. They also don't offer breakfast. We were greeted by a young girl who was pleasant and explained everything. Other than that we were out and about all of the two days we stayed there and didn't see any other staff. You pay for what you get and for what we paid it was fine. But nothing more and could be easily improved with some simple touches.

Comfortable bed in a clean room. I like the location, being so close to the sea, and also being able to go to the Redcar train station to catch a train to visit nearby Saltburn to see the pier and walk along the coastal path with the fantastic scenery and pubs.

Great location - overlooking the boating lake and sea. Owner gave a very warm welcome. Our family room, one double, one single bed looked like it hadn’t been slept in before - the room was immaculately clean and tidy. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels over the years and readily admit that I’ve become a bit of a hotel snob, The Lakeside, considering the price, is definitely punching well above its weight. I’d highly recommend the accommodation to all.
