O atendimento foi excelente. As comodidades muito boas e muito limpas. O única senão é que um dos jacuzzi não tinha água quente porém dá para aproveitar na mesma.

Quite location, friendly helpful staff, restaurant very nice as you are quite away from the next town.

I was stunned by this hotel. Set in rural Portugal, near the Spanish border, this spa resort is beautiful. Very modern, clean, well equipped throughout, incredibly welcoming staff and superb food in the restaurant. The hotel is the perfect mix of old and new as it is set on an old vineyard, with modern extensions which complement the original 1700's building. Outside the back side is a huge stone terrace which extends the whole width of the 1700's original building with views of the mountains and spa pool and beautiful gardens. The old part of the hotel is magnificent, but we also enjoyed the comfort of our modern room which had a huge terrace overlooking the valley. Everyone working there was friendly and efficient, and the owner spoke English perfectly. I would really recommend this place to anyone visiting northern Portugal. It made for a great relaxing break for my older parents in there 80’s to relax and enjoy the slower pace from Lisbon and before moving on to Porto on a 12 day vacation. The attention to detail and 'nothing's a problem' attitude from everyone we come into contact with is just exceptional. The breakfast is plentiful and has a great selection. We were very happy with the breakfast which offered a large variety of fruit and breads, cheese, ham, several types of jam, as well as cereal and yogurt. The evening meals are so good that you can't stop eating! The manager/owner, Fernando, is the most gracious host that will attend to your every need, while assuring your quality experience is filled with lasting memories and a strong desire to return again. In the evenings we dined in the hotel restaurant. Fernando was truly a phenomenal host, who made us feel welcome. On one of the evenings, he started us off with local sausages and cheese along with some local port from the local vineyard. He made excellent recommendations for our wines and did not disappoint with his selections. The food was delicious. We ate there every night for 4 nights, and everything kept meeting and exceeding our expectations. The beef is something that the region is known for, and it was delicious. Fernando also took us on a tour of the impressive 17th century wine making that uses filtration and gravity. The preservation of the original wine making is located in the lower area that is used for wedding receptions and large parties. The way it is incorporated into the new modern areas was impressive. I will be visiting Portugal in the future and will be re-visiting Fernando's Hotel Rural Casas Novas. We truly enjoyed our stayed here while we visited local vineyards, Chaves and Peneda-Geres National Park.

Beautifully restored country house in a picturesque rural location 15 minute drive from chaves. Outdoor pool with sun deck and small indoor pool. Superior room was an attic room, if I stayed again I would choose a terrace room, with views. Attic room had very little natural light and the shower & toilet was in the bedroom separated by a small wall.

The 4-star hotel, occupies a century-old and renovated building, with a beautiful view of the countryside. I consider it good, but it needs some adjus**ents for this classification. 1. The staff is fantastic (especially Carolina, a restaurant employee, very friendly and helpful) and they always served us well. 2. The facilities are comfortable. We got an upgrade (from a single room in the basement to another for disabled people on the ground floor). The room is comfortable, although it did not have air conditioning, which made us feel hot at night as all doors were closed). The minibar is minimal, it doesn't cool properly. Adequate lighting, flooring, wall colors, decor OK. 3. The bathroom for people with disabilities: there is no support bench or vanity, the shower is very small, the access door is sliding and has no handle. I don't know how a bathroom like this was approved. 4. There is a large terrace, semi-covered, but without decoration, just a table and two chairs. 5. The room is very noisy due to the heavy rain that falls, as the gutters are very close to the room door. 6. The parking lot is very far from the reception, which makes it difficult to get to the reception on rainy days. 7. Features: The pool is OK, but there are two spas (one with cold water and one that doesn't work). Steam and sauna OK. 8. Breakfast: well served, nothing special for a 4 star hotel. There are regional products, which is very interesting. Overall, the hotel could be rated 3.5 stars.

Make staying here a priority for your northern Portugal trip. It provides an amazing haven and break from the rush of travel. The grounds and village are heaven. Impeccably kept. The staff is kind, attentive, caring. The food is gourmet and local for extremely good value. The views are rejuvenating. The pools and sauna were spacious, clean and refreshing. I will find any reason to return! Muito obrigada!!!!!!!!!!!

A beautiful property in northern Portugal. We stayed for only one night and wished we had more time. It was off season so some of the outdoor amenities were closed, however we plan on going back in summertime. Staff was exceptional.
