Very old/modern feel. Small rooms. Mostly clean

This is a 1930's hotel, completely updated in the original style. Kevin checked us in, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We were there for business so didn't get to go to happy hour, the pool, etc. but it looked great. We had a one bedroom apartment which was very well set up and quiet. Would stay here again and have already recommended it to friends. Outdoor parking included, which is great if you have a tall vehicle like we do.

The exterior was extremely nice but the rooms were very small and dark. The walls are painted dark gray and there is very little lighting. The bathroom was small with not enough space to get ready. I had a difficult time finding an outlet to charge my computer and phone. There was one outlet behind the mattress which just exposed a mess of dust and flakes of skin. My room wasn’t cleaned during my 4 nights stay. I had to request more towels and for my garbage to be emptied. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The sister property seemed much nicer. It may have been better for a one night stay but 4 nights was too much for such a tight space. I can’t imagine 2 people fitting in the room.

We have had past tendency to stay at chain hotels. The Avalon was a FANTASTIC experience that we would never have received at a chain hotel. They had amazing customer service and staff. Coffee and cookies set up in the morning, a glass of wine or champagne set up at 5pm and cucumber water all through the day. This Hotel had a lot of charm. It is also affiliated with the hotel next door so we had use of a heated pool with Tiki bar, fantastic coffee shop with amazing desserts, and restaurant. The walkability was great. The rooms are a little dated, but they were very clean. I would definitely revisit and recommend to anyone looking for the ultimate charm Saint Petersburg has to offer.

Great location, near restaurants and museums. The staff friendly and helpful. The room was small, comfortable bed, interesting decor. The room needs some remodeling in some areas. For example, the door of the room had rotted portions in the bottom part.

Staff was helpful and friendly, particularly Larissa. Hotel bar next door was very good, as was the pastry shop. Room furnishings were unique. Could probably use some more electrical outlets but that was a minor inconvenience. Parking was challenging. Overall, a very nice place to stay and fairly close to the action.

The old building has been renovated with a kitschy design. Staffs were friendly and room was clean. But the room needed to be improved. It was extremely bothersome to unplug the bedside stand just to charge my mobile phone. Also the room lacks a fridge, and the lighting was too dim. I would visit the hotel right next, which shares facilities like the pool and restaurant with here - which means we had to go there to use these.

Very nice hotel for a weekend getaway. Positive review for location, service and cleanliness. Not so positive reviews on parking ( although free not enough spaces which lead to parking on street, lumpy mattresses that needs replacing, and small bathroom.
