A little rundown and tired. Could do with some maintenance and a deep clean. Although, staff were friendly and helpful.

I love this place! You’ll be hard pressed to find anyone in the hospitality industry in Samara that are nicer, more accommodating, more helpful or friendly than the staff at Pension Playa Samara. Highly recommended for your next trip to Samara.

Pension Playa Samara was a great place to stay. The overall vibe is a travelers lodge, and other guests were friendly and informative. There are nice sitting areas for hanging out. The staff are fantastic, so helpful and kind. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. The A/C works great, plus a ceiling fan. The breakfast they provide was delicious and fresh. The location was excellent for easy access to the beach, restaurants or shops. It was a safe and quiet area. I would definitely come back here. This place is excellent value for the money.

STAY AWAY, I CANNOT AND DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. This is a very noisy hotel. People were continuously showering in the shared bathroom next to my room all night long 230am-4am and talking in the hallway loudly and inconsiderately. The ad did not mention a shared bathroom but I still agreed to stay here after I was told on check-in that only one room across the bathroom was occupied and that was the room who was making all the bathroom noise for hours, from 230am to 4am. I had room 2, next to the shared bathroom. Very rude time to shower and loudly open and close doors. I could hear the faucet knob squeaking everytime they used it which was a lot. I even knocked on my wall to indicate they were loud but that didn't help at all. It only got quiet after 4am but it was too late for me to relax and sleep by that time. I hardly slept here and checked out very early.

Simple, family-friendly option very close to the beach, with decent wifi and breakfast included.

This hotel was very basic but very nice and served the purpose for the price. The rooms were big and clean. There was hot water, which we found out was not common everywhere in Costa Rica. The property was beautiful and the staff was very nice and accommodating. I needed a hair dryer and the girl at the reception gave me hers to use. That was super nice! We asked for blankets since it got chilly with the AC and they provided us with them. Anything we needed and asked for was given to us! Breakfast options were limited but delicious, so no complains there. The hotel was only a block away from the beach and we walked everywhere. Overall, we had very good experience and were glad we stayed there!

Chilled out spot popular with Ticos easy 5 min walk from the beach. Made up of private accommodations but definitely has more of a hostel vibe. Rooms are pretty rustic with thin walls and shades on only some of the windows. Door lacked a deadbolt. Only had a twist lock on the knob so didn’t feel terribly secure. Staff were friendly. Street parking is easy and there is an excellent restaurant right around the corner with solid breakfast and dinner options.

The hotel has basic accommodations, but the staff was excellent especially Keidy and Juan. Lots of excursions to choose from which can be booked from the hotel. The breakfast was tasty and helped start the day right. Just a five minute walk from the beach and close to many restaurants. Restaurants are pricey, but there are lots of choices. A pizza will run you $20 USD. Will definitely be back.

We liked the staff and the breakfast the most the shared bathroom was good and not used by other people very often.
