セリーナ サン ホセ - ホステル(Selina San Jose)

Curtains on the bed which is a killer feature to get some intimacy and sleep better. Common spaces are well designed. Yoga class in the morning is highly recommended. People are welcoming but usually won't stay for long as San Jose is usually a step to go somewhere else. Except a few co-workers.

A nice quiet street of San Jose, and our room was basic but reasonably priced.. the place was serviceably clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Tue hotel idea very nice and well located. Breakfast is good with hot and cold options. The room Is big and the bed is big and confy. The staff is kind, and informative. The room has a kettle and a fridge for cold drinks. The toilet is big and well equide with towels

I stayed here for two nights. The hostel is clean and the staff is nice. It’s decorated with art and has a cute hipster feel. The restaurant has good food and drinks. The shower in the en-suite dorms is the best I’ve seen in a hostel. It’s mostly a young crowd but doesn’t feel like a party hostel. I recommend this hostel for a quick stay in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Fun and friendly place to crash in San Jose. It's very easy to meet new people to hang with here. The staff and hostel facilitates this with their welcome drink. They literally walk arpund gathering people to come to the communal table to meet others (But no pressure if that's not your thing). I enjoyed the decor and feel of this hostel. I'd stay there again.

The a**osphere is great at Selina, relaxed friendly with great service. It can be a bit noisy during the night

Selina has a nice kitchen area/nice common room and offers many activities to backpackers which is nice. However, some of the rooms (our room) are literally in the kitchen, meaning that you hear everything. They have a silence policy (after 0:00) however no one makes sure it is actually silent which can be a problem after a long journey. Our main problem during our stay of one night (happy it was just one) was that the room was very dirty. There were cockroaches lying around, hairs of previous guests in the bed and we wonder if the room was cleaned at all. We are both backpackers who have stayed at multiple hostels in Costa Rica. We had good experiences at all of them except for the Selina Hostel in San Jose. When we mentioned it to the staffmember at reception, her response was "oh I did not know that, thanks for letting me know". An apology would have been the right thing and actually checking the room to see why we mentioned this would have been the professional thing to do. Also the photo's of the advertisement are definitely not what you get once there.

So if your in your twenties and like noise and don’t care you spent over a $100 for a private room that you cannot walk around the bed, no tv, no AC, dirty shared bathroom, one towel for 2 people, this is the place for you. The staff was nice and food was good enough, but we will not stay here again for the high price alone.
