We really enjoyed our stay. Superb staff. Great location. Complimentary lobby bar for guests open 24/7. Nice rooftop area. Some umbrellas on the roof would be nice. We'll definitely stay there again.

The staff were more than helpful, from the second we walked in Lewis immediately greeted us with drinks (free open bar) and gave us great tips on how to start our vacation. Also the communication between staff was top notch! I will most definitely be staying here again when I visit back.

On the positive, the staff was lovely but otherwise I wouldn’t stay there again- overpriced for what it was. Yes, the 200 year old building is somewhat quaint but towels were thin and gray, sheets were rough like sandpaper and the window was frosted so there was no way to see the outside. Room was extremely dark with only 3 lights to use. There were $122 in “service fees for 2 nights. When I inquired be about the high service fee I was told it was for be includedthings like housekeeping and a hairdryer. Shouldn’t those

The service and open bar at this boutique property are outstanding. The disappointment for us was the quality of the mattress and the noise in the hallways. We had a very interrupted sleep. The location is fantastic. The staff and service are fantastic! So many great reasons to stay here. Thanks to the fantastic staff we had a great dinner at their recommendation as well as breakfast. Thanks guys!

This property was awesome! Adults only, great room, rooftop, open bar, and high security. The staff was incredible!!

We had a lovely stay at El Colonial! The staff were so friendly and attentive - they could not have been nicer! Our room was also comfortable and clean, with great A/C. We had a room on the 4th floor that didn't face the street, (windows opened onto an interior courtyard), so it was also very quiet (apparently, some of the rooms facing the main street can be a bit louder on night). Our room was a little small, with fairly bare-bone features, but that is to be expected at a historic hotel - it overall had everything we needed to have a comfortable night's sleep and "home base' during our 3 days in the city. The open bar in the lobby was a huge plus, as was the gorgeous rooftop deck! The hotel is located right in the heart of Old San Juan, easy walking distance to all major sites in the historic district. Overall, highly recommend this lovely hotel, and we would definitely stay again! FYI - as mentioned on their website, there is no elevator, so probably not the best option for guests with mobility impairments. But the hotel staff will happily move your luggage.
