This is a family-run motel with rooms that open to the balconies or the parking lot. It is located on the edge of downtown SLO, close to the exit from Highway 101. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance. Rooms are clean. Plenty of towels and hot water. Housekeeping service every day. They even maintained this service during the pandemic! Showers, no bathtubs. Refrigerator and microwave and coffee service in the rooms. No elevator. Coffee and snacks are available in the office. There is a gas station across Marsh street with an extensive selection of food and drink. Headstrong gym, a very well-equipped training facility, is across the street at the back. You can get daily access for $20. This is a pleasant, affordable space to stay.
I am very disappointed in our stay. This was our first staycation after getting married and we’re looking forward to a cute hotel with a bakery and quaint rooms. At around 3:30am the power went out and it got extremely hot in the room. Also, we were on the lower level underneath the lobby which means we didn’t have good windows. It just had a full fenced staircase which means it was pitch black because the sun wasn’t coming through. We had plans for the day and needed to get dressed, ready, put makeup on and do my hair to dress up and couldn’t get ready at all since outlets didn’t work and again, it was pitch black. my husband even tripped trying to move around since it was so dark. We partially booked this place for the nice bakery breakfast spot, and it was closed because of the outage. What we paid for we didn’t get. Also, there was no communication. We didn’t know anything was closed or that there was a hotel wide power outage until we went up to ask what was going on. In top of all of that, we also booked this place for the pool and hot tub. Once we went to go to the pool and hot tub, we realized it was out of service. So we couldn’t use that either. We asked for some sort of a discount or compensation for our room since it was not at all what we paid for and we were told no, they wouldn’t do anything. Last night before bed we said we loved this place and would totally come back but after the bad customer service and lack of compensation for not getting what we paid for, we will be staying at the neighboring hotels unless they get back to us and make this right.
For the past 15 consecutive years we have stayed at Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo and are loyal Hilton Honors members. Manager Sandy Wirick decided to bounce our reservation on 10/17-10/21 2023 that we booked several months in advance with no explanation. She also refused to return our multiple phone call messages left on her voice mail. Thank you Sandy Wirick for not responding or respecting our loyalty to Hilton. I am happy to report we stayed at an Airbnb in Avila Beach and Hilton corporation did not get a dime of our money!
NNevart HSan Luis Creek Lodge is lovely with chic decor accents, gorgeous bath products, and a super comfy bed. We love the attention to detail and the immaculate state of the room and grounds. Our room was super quiet and parking was easy and convenient. It’s a short drive to downtown and campus and the front desk staff is friendly and helpful. We’d definitely stay here again!
MmikengrossWe stayed at the Hampton Inn SLO in early November of 2023 and were very pleasantly impressed. We stayed for two nights for a race in nearby Santa Margarita, which meant we had to be up and out of the hotel by 5am both days. When we checked in, we asked the front desk if hot water would be available since breakfast didn't start until 6am, and the front desk staff went out of their way both days to ensure there was hot water prepped especially for us by 4:45am. The room was clean, modern, and the bed was very comfortable. WiFi was fast and water pressure in the shower was great. We called down the first night for an extra blanket and it was delivered within about 5 minutes. The person who made our stay extra special was Jessica at the front desk. She took the time to ask about our stay when checking in and then went out of her way to remember our names whenever we walked by the front desk, asked about our races, and generally made us feel like we were at home. The hotel is well maintained, in a great location just off the freeway, and was more than you'd expect from a Hampton Inn. If we were in San Luis Obispo again, I would go out of my way to stay at the Hampton SLO.
WWanderer16714249805The Sunbeam Motel is an outdoing value when visiting SLO. The room was very comfortable, and while basic, was super clean and provided a microwave, fridge with separate freezer compartment, coffee maker, desk, great TV, and 2 comfy queen beds, all for less than $90. We were in room 12 at the back of the property on the ground floor, so it was pretty quiet. Walkable to restaurants and bars. Hope to stay again soon!
Our stay at Motel 6 wasn't too bad, but it wasn't anything special either. The room had the basic amenities and was alright for just one night, but I would prefer to stay elsewhere next time. The room was a bit cold too and I would prefer it if the bed had a proper quilt instead of an old-fashioned blanket covered by a white sheet. Also, there was no shower gel or shampoo, just soap and there was some noise coming from the bathroom ventilation. At least there was plenty of parking available.
