It was a little off putting when I first arrived as the entrance was in a small alley but I soon discovered a lot of hotels in Santiago are are like this, but it is a very nice hotel. Staff were nice and a really good breakfast. Not far from the old town and cathedral etc for sightseeing and close to non tourist shops for retail shopping. We got the bus from airport for €1 and it stopped close to hotel and it is a short walk, maybe 12 minutes from bus station. No outside space or bar which may disappoint others but we were not planning on spending our time in the hotel bar when there is so much else to explore nearby. Nice bar on corner next to hotel, fruit shop and supermarket just around the corner so very handy
I stayed at this hotel after finishing the pilgrimage walking of Portuguese Camino coast. Fortunately, I have a free coupon of ********* after 10 days of using it. The room is quite big but located in a strange place near to the breakfast room at the second floor of hotel. Anyway it is good compared to alberque or small hostels where I stayed during walking at Camino.
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Alda San Carlos upon completing the Camino de Santiago. The room was clean and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised that our room, which was next to the elevator and facing the street, was very quiet. Lots of hot water in the shower. The hotel is an easy walk to the Cathedral. The staff were gracious, welcoming, helpful and responsive. Added bonuses: the bus to the airport has a stop just across the street from the hotel and the Victoria Market just up the block has delicious fresh produce, chocolates and pastries!
Love this hotel as it is modern and clean but has all the things you need for a holiday. Great staff and a very good breakfast buffet. Hotel is large and clean. The rooms are fine and well priced and clean. Staff will sort you out with items you may need. Hotel has safes in each room and 24 hour porter. I like the gardens in summer. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good location for walking to city centre.
Reality does not match pictures online. Old fashioned design. Rooms ok but not that special. Shower leaking. Minibar poorly stuffed and no refill. Staff unfriendly. Pool very cold. Online menu doesn’t work. No room service online. No food after 10 pm. Not suitable for disabled people. Lots of steps, no help from staff. Breakfast good but not made clear that not included and presented with heavy bill at the end.
ゲゲストWe stayed 3 nights in one of the ”atico” rooms on the 4th floor. The location of this hotel is excellent. The staff is very friendly. We had a nice time here overall. I'm not a fan of slanted ceilings and did bump my head a couple times. The hotel room was very clean and daily housekeeping did a nice job. It was very nice of them to provide daily bottled water. The room was pretty spacious but not all areas were useful due to the slanted ceiling. I would have liked to have an extra chair or bench in the room, in the slanted areas, and also bathroom, to place personal items. Just a suggestion for improvement that would be fairly easy for the hotel. I would stay here again if I'm ever in Santiago again.
This is my favorite hotel in my favorite city in Spain. The hotel is situated a five minute walk to the Cathedral and the historic area with plenty of great restaurants and other historic sites. The hotel itself is very historical. Getting to the hotel is easy and the hotel has plenty of parking. The hotel staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The Rooms I’ve stayed in are modern and roomy with comfy beds and pillows. Room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was great. Restaurant and housekeeping staff were very friendly. I try to get to Santiago several times a year and I wouldn’t consider staying at any other hotel.
SShanemjoyceI stayed in the this Hotel due to unfortunate circumstances on a flight from Funchal to Manchester UK, resulting in Diverting to Santiago. I had a prolonged stay due to dealing with formalities with a Lady I was accompanying, and can only describe ALL the staff at this hotel as EXCELLENT. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their Kindness to the Lady I was travelling with was heart warming. Special thanks to Receptionist Eva Carracedo who was particularly helpful, going out of her way with translations and paperwork. I hope to stay here again for more pleasant reasons. 5 Starts to everyone Dr S
Comfortable spacious room with lots of amenities. Nice lobby lounge with comfortable seating. My room overlooked the pool and the city. Gorgeous sunsets. No AC available since it was mid-April. On Saturday night it was too noisy to keep the windows open, so it was pretty warm. Turning room fan on high helped.
