Check-in was friendly and prompt. Our room was very nice and clean. Not much for breakfast so we ended up walking to the Reading Terminal. Only issue I had was I only used my credit card for check-in at this hotel, no other place. 3 hours later I received notification that my card was used to order pizza for $60.71. I had to call my credit card and cancel it leaving me without my credit card for the remainder of my trip.

Room was incredibly small. Bathroom was the size a phone booth. The building is very old and is a shock if one is used to modern chain hotels. For example, the bathroom was tiled in tiny mosaic beige textured tiles that look dirty even though they are likely not. Having said that, the room was clean and the towels thick. TV did not work. Elevator smelled of oil and broke while I was there.

This was a total disappointment except the staff. The staff we met were friendly an competent. The room was dirty. Mold in the air conditioner, something under the heaters. This is an old hotel in need of some serious renovations. We came here for our anniversary and it was so bad that we just decided to wait and celebrate at home. I want to be clear, the staff was super great. The hotel is just run down.

We loved that this is an old-school, in-town, independent hotel. Unlike some of the corporate apartment and airbnb proliferators, this is a proper little hotel. 24 hour front desk with lovely staff, fireplace lit, pleasant breakfast -- and super convenient to everything in Washington Square West/***borhood.

I am notbone for writing lukewarm reviews, but here we go. The staff service was great. However the room cleaning crew needs some help. They left the new towels outside our door without even going into our room to make the bed, etc... (we did not have a Do Not Disturb sign on the door knob ) Even after i notified the front desk about this they still did not come by to pick up the used towels. The room is small (not smallish, but small). There is a wall safe but no refrigerator. The TV is about 27" in size. (We did not watch much of it, so nothing lost there.) We had a room with a queen size bed. The leg room is really minimal if you are thinking of working on a laptop on the desk/bureau combo furniture. The hallways smelled slightly musty but not overpowering. (Well, it is an over 120 years old establishment. ) The big plus overall is that we were minutes away from practically everything in the city. (We were seeing the Nutcracker ballet, just a 9 minute walk to the theater. ) Lots of great restaurants and bars to choose from. Hope this review helps in your decision on hotels.

This is a very old family hotel with outdated equipment. Although it allows me to imagine that era, I still hope that if the bedding can be replaced with modern ones, it will be worth recommending;

The key card never worked. Had to get it fixed 4-5 times...always at when I was in a hurry. Won't be staying there again. They took my email when I was leaving saying that I had to provide it to get a receipt. I haven't received it.

Great location. Easy walk to lots of attractions. Staff friendly. Place is old and could use a facelift. Bed needs a mattress pad, it was very hard. The bedding is very odd, its like a walfel cone and scrachy.
