Cross Keys

What a lovely place to stay! Quiet, comfortable bed, great shower and toiletries and excellent food. What more does one need? The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We ate here both evenings and were not disappointed. The fish was delicious, the burger and sauce divine, and the buttered chicken curry was excellent as were the desserts. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. Our room was small but had everything we needed including a variety of teas and coffees and biscuits. We would not hesitate to come back again if we were in the area.

We spent 2 nights at the Cross Keys whilst visiting the borders. Set in a lovely peaceful village the Inn is a lovely wee gem. We stayed in the family Kirkhope room, extremely spacious with a lovely view of the hills behind the hotel, the complementary tea and coffee with biscuits were more than generous. The staff were very welcoming and went above and beyond to help where needed. Food was delicious and the scrambled Ettrick eggs were just perfect at breakfast. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area

Hoped for a quiet rural Border revisiting old places and wasn’t disappointed. Hotel a wee gem with genuinely good people working there who were most helpful . Breakfast superb. Room fine with some views of the local countryside. Could be a contender for creakiest floors in the Borders but it is a genuine old building . Well done to the owners and good luck to you!

What a great place. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Our room was clean and large and smelt fresh, the shower was brilliant. Plenty of choice on the tea tray and a great touch with the oat milk. The bar area was nice and a great selection of local cider/lager and beers. Evening meal and breakfast was great again with local produce. A really peaceful stay. All in all a really great place to stay

Lovely inn in great location. The room was very comfortable and very clean. The food was excellent and they were flexible in meeting my wife's dietary needs. The service was very friendly. Good value. Lively ambience. I would recommend it and suspect we will return.

We found the Cross Keys Inn online by chance when looking for somewhere to stay for two nights in the Borders. We read the reviews and it looked ideal - turned out it was! Wonderful setting, great rooms, delicious food, friendly staff and friendly patrons, both local and visiting. It was obvious that the hotel is a community hub as meetings went on in a side room both nights we were there. The welcome we received when we arrived and the friendliness of all the staff we encountered, would be a lesson to many establishments. We would absolutely recommend the Cross Keys - unless you're planning a noisy hen party or stag do, in which case you might not fit in too well! Forgot to mention the great beer too.

The perfect "Eat, Walk, Sleep" in the Scottish Borders. Met lovely people, staff as well as locals. Beautiful walks in the surrounding area. Really loved the pub with fireplace, the food is really good and earthy, and good portions too. I was there mid-march in the middle of the week, traveling solo on public transport. Took a taxi from Selkirk, it cost me 15 pounds. There is also a minibus offer which you have to prebook and it only comes twice a week or so. I had the double bed room, which was comfortable. Would have liked a desk though to do some writing. It was really quiet. I strongly recommend this local place.

A really nice clean and warm pub with a great atmosphere and comfortable bedrooms, The food offers a great selection of local produced food that is well prepared and served by welcoming smiling staff. We will be back again soon. Tom and Anne Muir

Had a few drinks here the night before a mate's birthday bash at Aikwood Tower... and it was the perfect warm up. The welcoming, attentive staff dealt patiently with our large group, while the Friday night regulars were just as hospitable. Lots of fun.
