Kivo Art & Gourmet Hotel

This hotel was so lovely, mainly due to the pretty and artistic decor / rooms and the amazing pool area, also the view from the pool area was amazing, as it is in a high area on a mountain! The staff were so nice and helpful. It is a short bus / car journey to the town area but not in walking distance. Parking was close and convenient. Felt very at ease and relaxed here. Only thing wrong was we didn’t think much of the hotel food, as it was made to sound much better than it was, however we solved this by mostly eating out. Nevertheless, would highly recommend the hotel!

This is a difficult hotel to review because some things about it are so good and other things are very bad. Basically it’s in a lovely location with stunning views, has a very good pool, the rooms are clean (although they are a bit over designed with an emphasis on what looks good rather than what works) and the architecture excellent. It’s a bit of a pull up the steep slope from some of the rooms to reception and the restaurant so do make sure, if you have any mobility problems, that you’re booked into rooms near the main hotel. The shuttle bus to Skiathos town isn’t very reliable so car hire is essential. The chief problem seems to be that the hotel is seriously understaffed, leading to very poor service at mealtimes, particularly breakfast. If they can sort this out it will be a really remarkable hotel but at present it’s difficult to recommend. As the food is perhaps the best we’ve eaten on many visits to Greece, it’s a huge shame they can’t serve it efficiently. We saw several guests having temper tantrums as the service dragged on and on and the weary staff were clearly worn down by the volume of complaints.

Please don’t visit here the staff are unfriendly & the food was not gourmet ! Every night when we went for tea it was like an eating challenge as it was cold tasteless slop disgusting the worst place I have ever been ! What a rip off £ 10 for a gin& tonic no ice & lemon & flat tonic & small beers £6 ! Apparently they upgraded our room as it was our anniversary god know what the original room would of looked like ! They was shutting everything down as it was end of season & did we know about it ! The views was stunning that’s the only positive

This hotel is rated 4* but did not live up to its rating. There are 2 problems with this hotel; the owner and the location. The hotel provides a mini bus (the driver Arris is a darling) but the bus only depart from the hotel 3 times a day at very inconvenient times. The first bus is at 10ish and the last bus is 10ish in the evening. Taxis cost between 12-15 euros, so shop around. The taxi rank on the harbour are the cheapest. The owner has the knack of upsetting the staff on a regular basis and they react by making the guests wait and hour for their food and when it arrives it is cold. Because of her there is a very negative atmosphere in the dining room which makes everyone very uncomfortable. Although we had booked half-board at this hotel because of its location, we frequently ate out and added to that expense was a taxi ride back. The only positive about this location are the views but the rooms are very tired and unloved. Although this is advertised as an adult only hotel, there were 2 babies resident in our week there. There are much better alternatives nearer the town so look around first.

Abbiamo prenotato una camera in un albergo 4 stelle tramite Alpitour per il nostro viaggio di nozze, siamo rimasti veramente delusi dal servizio e dalla stanza che ci hanno assegnato (ci sono ostelli in sud america con camere 10 volte meglio). Stanza vecchia con ruggine in più parti e una presa elettrica rotta che usciva dal muro, bagno con vasca in cui si era staccato tutto il silicone e tanti altri dettagli che se sei ironico ti farebbero sbellicare dalle risate. ATTENZIONE LA RECEPTION NON E' 24/24 , siamo arrivati alle 07:00 e abbiamo aspettato un ora e mezza per parlare con la "recepsionist/concierge/cameriera delle colazioni". Potrei andare aventi con tanti altri dettagli ma vi avverto che se vi danno un succo in una bottiglia di vetro riempita a metà non preoccupatevi nessuno vi ha bevuto l'altra metà ma è la politica del "hotel" : ). Abbiamo chiesto un cambio stanza che ci è stato negato perché "sempre peino", contattato Alpitour che ci hanno trattato quasi a pesci in faccia e ci volevano far pagare una penale per cambiare hotel, gli abbiamo ribadito che noi volevamo solo un posto che valesse quello che avevamo pagato. Alpitour veramente vergognoso, abbiamo contattato la nostra agenzia di viaggio che ci ha risolto il problema subito a costo zero dandoci una stanza in un vero Hotel 4 stelle.

Prenotato con Alpitour last minut, non abbiamo avuto nessun problema con i trasferimenti da e per hotel aeroporto il referente di Alpitour Michele gentile e disponibile, per l'hotel vista davvero bella!! la struttura e piacevole,lo staff educato ,disponibile ,siamo arrivati alle 12,30,dato che la camera era pronta x le 15 nell'attesa ci è stato offerto un succo,e potevamo cambiarci e usufruire della piscina in attesa della camera, abbiamo chiesto x noleggiare un auto e nel giro di un ora la nostra auto era già in hotel, pulizia discreta.x quanto riguarda le camere ,la nostra con vista mare laterale con una vista più che gradevole , certo non era una suite ma neanche una camera da hotel 1 stella!! ,certo ci sarebbero da fare dei lavori di miglioramento soprattutto nel bagno ...,disporre le stanze di uno stendino, assicurarsi che nella stanza ci sia tt quello che viene descritto nella presentazione ,la colazione non era a buffet ,ci veniva servita da loro ,buona ma un po' monotona ,magari cercare di cambiare potrebbe essere un punto a favore .quindi nell'insieme da 1 a 10 noi al Kivo diamo un 7,5 . Het hotel ligt hooggelegen en heeft prachtige uitzichten over de zee en omliggende eilanden. Je ziet zelfs de vliegtuigen aankomen en in de verte landen. Het is werkelijk een genot om ‘s ochtend met dit uitzicht te kunnen ontbijten en ‘s avonds de maan op zien komen. Wij hadden ook een prachtig uitzicht vanuit onze kamer. Het ontbijt zelf werd vanwege COVID maatregelen aan tafel geserveerd, waardoor je soms wel even moest wachten. Zeker voor iemand die aangegeven had dat ze gluten en lactose intolerantie had was het vrij beperkt. Je moest zelf aangeven of er alternatieven waren zoals ei of extra fruit. Het personeel had het er druk mee en gaf soms de indruk het te zwaar te vinden. Een meer vriendelijke glimlach en houding zou niet misstaan. Dat was ook de algemene indruk die ik had van het personeel. Er heerste niet een hele gastvrije vibe, die je in een hotel als dit verwacht. Behalve van Nota, die ‘s middags en ‘s avonds aan de receptie werkte. Zij was een uitzonderlijk gastvrije jonge vrouw, die accuraat, snel en betrouwbaar hielp met alle wensen. Door haar voelden wij ons bijzonder welkom en een beetje thuis. Het gevoel wat je wil hebben als je op zo’n mooie plek logeert. Zij is een juweeltje voor het hotel en onmisbaar! Ook Melanie, die yogalessen verzorgde, was heel aardig. Vraag haar om op de bovenste etage een yogales te verzorgen. Het uitzicht is nog spectaculairder en heerlijk om tot jezelf te komen. De rest van het personeel was vriendelijk, maar op de een of andere manier afstandelijk. Punt voor verbetering! Aan het zwembad kan je heerlijk vertoeven met grote loungebedden. De kamers zijn eenvoudig, maar charmant ingericht. Er wordt goed schoongemaakt. Als je hier bent kan je met de shuttlebus naar Skiathos town meerijden. De chauffeur is aardig en werkt hard. Het is wel onhandig dat ze gedurende de middag alleen om 13.00hr en dan pas weer om 19.00hr rijden. Je kan ook uitstappen bij bushalte 6 Kassandra beach resort (even doorgeven aan de chauffeur) en via daar met de bus naar andere stranden of naar het strand ter plekke gaan. Stefano’s watersport die daar gehuisvest is, biedt allerlei watersporten aan en is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Aanrader! Vandaar kan je ook met de watertaxi (3 euro p/p) naar de haven van Skiathos varen, waar je in het centrum heerlijk kan eten! Doe ook een zeilboot tocht (wel prijzig, maar de moeite waard) en een omliggende cruise naar de eilanden om de mooie stranden te bezoeken en heerlijk te zwemmen in het warme zeewater!

Solita storia dell’ overbooking, nonostante ci fossimo accertati tramite alpitour che le camere prenotate a giugno ci fossero. Scortesia e sconforto più totale. Che schifo . Non ci venite. Perché alpitur se ne è lavato le mani e la manager peggio di loro.
