St. Kilda Beach Hotel + Location is great, jsut a few meters walk to the beach, to convenience stores, restraurants, bars, and tram + Checkin process and checkout are smooth with helpful staff + all the frontdesk people were very helpful the 3 staff who can speak Filipino were also helpful in terms of language barrier even helped us with redeeming AusOpen tickets and getting around, very helpful. + Love the family owned kitchen restaurant just in the hotels vicinity, love the coffee and the breakfast, they have really big portion for small appetite people like us so we decided to split our orders.. still love the small beach town vibe of the resto. + Staff were all friendly and very helpful, from the cleaners to kitchen staff and hotel staff. + Simple design room with view of street and can open window, has airconditioning, beds were soft, a bit smaller pillow but okay, and clean room. - The overall design is a bit outdated as what other comments would say which i agree - the carpet in the lobby has stain, that doesnt look so pleasing for the guests - the elevator is slow and cant seem to find stairs - window cannot fully open just slight open, i understand for safety purposes but maybe a bit more opening would be better, and also dust accumulating through the said window area since its rarely opened. All in all the positive experiences outshines the little minor annoyances and suggestion that we have... Must really commend the staff that helped us, and feel welcomed. And most of all, the area of the city away from the buildings, near the beach, and love the culture, people and everything about Melbourne.
Arrival: Upon arrival I was greeted by a new guy who was pretty new to the St Kilda gang. He seemed very lovely but it did take him a while to get me checked in. 15 minutes later I was still standing there waiting for him to tell me what was happening so perhaps better communication from him in the future would come across more friendly to new arrivals. Rooms: When checking into my room, the room was super spacious and the beds were definitely the best I've had yet, with lockers above the beds and space underneath too. The best bit is the curtains to allow for a bit more privacy when wanting to chill in your room. The walls are PAPER-THIN though so you can literally hear everything from the corridors/out the windows from downstairs. If you're on the bottom floor, you're pretty much stuffed cause I would class this as a party hostel and you're never gunna get much sleep. People: The people at this hostel seemed really friendly. I did bump into a lot of Dutch people though and in my opinion are not the friendliest. The hostel hosts events most nights - pretty much 100% of which involve drinking. So, if you're a non drinker it doesn't really cater for us. There was not 1 event I saw that didn't involve alcohol and as a non-drinker I would have liked to see more of that. I was mostly looking forward to beach volleyball and 'peer pong' but these were cancelled for no reason so that was pretty disappointing. St Kilda Team: The cleaners are really lovely and got a really good vibe from all of them - there was one particular guy from Columbia who was an angel! As for the Canadian receptionist, you should get another job... sorry but being front-of-house is not your skill - you are so unfriendly and made everyone feel so on-edge. The tall skinny guy on reception was also really sweet. Location: The location is right by the beach, only a 5-minute walk so really great location and also right by the tram station.
I am unable to review a stay at this property, as despite three attempts to make a reservation for multiple nights earlier this week, both directly on their website and via emails, I did not receive a response. It should be of concern that any accommodation with such a lack of customer service will probably be a disappointing stay. Forewarned is to be forearmed.
My husband and I were volunteering at an event in Melbourne for the weekend and decided to stay overnight. Chose the Crest on Barkley as it was near the venue. Looks great from the outside, in a reasonably quiet street with onsite parking. Check in was easy and we then went to our room. Slightly dated, we requested a queen bed and ended up with 2 doubles. The room was quite large, however the bathroom was not clean and needed an update. Hated the pillows (too flat), the bed was comfortable and we got a decent nights sleep. Didn't stay for breakfast, there is a small cafe next door that offers coffee and a variety of take away foods. Overall experience was underwhelming and won't be staying there again.
Best quality apartments in St Kilda. I have been staying here since 2012 and Hamptons St Kilda is my accomodation of choice when coming on business to Melbourne. Quality Bathroom with pure white crisp towels and a Fully appointed Kitchen, with a nice sized lounge area. Washing machine and dryer too boot. Bedrooms are comfortable, clean crisp white cotton bedding. There really is nothing not to like here. There is no onsite parking bit in the locale there are free street spots. Some good coffee spots along Chapel and Carlisle Sts and a varying array of places to eat. Tram into the city if you need it is close by. I can highly recommend this quality accomodation.
