Feedback sent as per standard email received, absolutely no acknowledgment so they can have another average-poor review to go with everything else. See below:- Having just received your standard email I thought I’d send you some feedback. If I were to leave a review on Tripadvisor it’d probably be 3 out of 5 at best and having read many reviews in advance I’m sure you’re aware of the issues. We only booked as we couldn’t get a room next door and we wanted to be high up in the centre due to the location of our wedding/reception. We weren’t expecting much after seeing reviews and being relatively local knowing the hotels reputation isn’t exactly thriving. Positives 1. The girl on reception Saturday afternoon was a credit to your company, a lovely welcome. 2. Breakfast area really nice and breakfast was decent enough although the products used are clearly the level of a budget chain. Freshly made and hot both times. 3. Visually from the outside it looks beautiful. Negatives 1. This is by far the most disappointing, for 3 days there was a clump of mud on the stairs to the first floor (no doubt still there now) and the stairs from top to bottom were to put it bluntly disgusting, would’ve easily been fixed with a hoover, I genuinely couldn’t even guess the last time they were hoovered. Lack of attention to detail at best, laziness at worst. It looks like you’ve next to no staff in at any point but someone must be expected to hoover. 2. The Bruce Suite in general was nice until you looked closer, the bathroom ceiling as I’m sure you’re aware really needs fixed from presumably a bad leak, the fixtures and fittings in the bathroom look like they’ve been fitted by at best a handyman, grout missing, bath barely looks secure. The hallway once within the room has been battered by a million bags and could really do with a coat of paint. 3. The pillows although they are often to personal taste were pancakes, should’ve been binned a long time ago. 4. The heat, you’re obviously aware due to fans being in the room but we had the windows open and fan on for two days solid and it was only about 10 degrees outside, not entirely sure what you can do but it must be unbearable mid summer. 5. The reception at the bar is strange but I guess it eliminates a staff member from what was the reception previously. That’s fine if that’s what you think works but there must be better way to remove the unused reception as you walk in, remove the table maybe and put an extra chair or two in the corner. I was sitting in the bar and two people came to check in and stood confused as it kind of looks like a reception still. I’m aware I could’ve brought some of these things up while I was there but I don’t like confrontation and nothing was that bad we couldn’t stay. Being in what I believe is your only suite and probably your most looked after room I fear what the others must look like. At £375 for two nights it really needs to be better, you’ll only get away with the loc
Good central location. Friendly staff. Reading other reviews I think it depends which room you get. Our window wouldn’t open and we could hear a noise like water pipes or tank banging at 5 min intervals all the time and through the night. The shower was scalding hot 1 minute, freezing the next. Plug holes and under bath taps were just disgusting. As were the ledges and silicone round the bath and behind the bathroom door. Pricey for the state of the bathroom. The beds were fine. Not sure if I would stay here again.
In a quite delightful location, this Hotel on reflection is undoubtedly a wedding venue, and in that I would suggest it worthy of consideration. For us we were bed and breakfast guests for one night and although the accommodations were most comfortable and the catering very good ably provided by mine host Jas, the facilities mainly were quite large and more befitting the wedding venue status. The staff were most friendly and certainly helped make our stay. The dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious and we commend the cooking skills of Jas.
Visited at September weekend to celebrate a 50th birthday with the family there were 11 of us who were aged 3 -56 aged booked 2 x Lodge/apartments. Lovely and spacious could be doing with a bit of a coat of paint etc, but this did not effect our Celebrations. Each lodge had 2 bedrooms 3 bathrooms and a sauna. We used the pool which was good for all ages. Beautifully kept gardens and lots of walks. Some of us ate in the restaurant which is very over priced which is a shame. Just make sure you take plenty of food etc with you as the nearest ships are a few miles away and take aways limited and quite expensive. Kitchens are well.equiped with large Fridge freezer, nespresso machine toaster. There is also a welcome pack with dishtowels, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and clothes.
