Lovely little hotel - All the staff are super friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are large, very clean, huge comfy bed, complimentary water in the fridge (although wasn't replaced daily) and the bathroom had the biggest shower area I've ever seen.... We had B&B and the breakfast was really good, freshly squeezed OJ, fab choice of pastries and fresh eggs cooked to your liking. The pool area was nice with sun all day however it could do with a freshening up, the beds are old and some are broken and the pool has some loose screws and rotting wood around however this did not detract from the lovely stay we had. So many bars and restaurants nearby and a very short walk to the beach . Would definately reccommend this lovely hotel :-)

First of all I paid for the sea view room eith gilf experience only to find on arrival that I wont get the free round of golf because I didnt book it 2 weeks in advance. They never stated this during booking. There is zero effort made at reception on arrival. Charged an extra 'tax' on arrival plus 100 euro as a deposit. Left find my room myself. There was zero information in the room. There was nothing to tell you how to join the wifi so I went to ring reception to ask but there wasn't even a number on the phone to call reception. When I unpacked and put my stuff in the safe I found that the safe was broken. I rang 3 times before someone came to replace the batteries in it. The hotel itself is too far from decent shops and restaurants. The spa closes at 8.30. Water is freezing cold in the jacuzzis and they make you buy a swimming hat to sit in them. The entertainment is the worst I've seen. You can hear music and fun happening in the surrounding hotels but this one is just dead. They play a short bit of music from 10-12pm and that's it. The fusion hotel bar/club is almost totally empty every night. Max I've seen was 8 people at it. The only pleasant staff was one lady in the restaurant.

Fabulous hotel and in a great place, not too far from the main motorway but on a straight avenue which enables you to walk to the beach and old town or you can take bus number 8. Really friendly helpful staff team and amazing room, felt like we were in a high end Hilton. Huge room and comfortable bed, great bath and shower plus lounge area! Plus managed to park outside for free!

This hotel deserves every accolade it is given. Small and fairly basic in fairness but run with passion by a couple that really care about what they do. This hotel surpasses many that charge twice the price. We were in room 17 on the 1st floor. It was quiet, immaculately clean and felt very safe. Xavi the owner, gave us as much info as we could ever need and even took the time to actually show us the way to the cheaper car park. Little things mean such a lot and definitely differentiates a hotel from its competition The hotel is centrally located and handy for everything.

I stayed here for two weeks for a university program. As I was there for a while it's easiest to do a bulleted list of pros/cons: Pros: * Location: Directly on Plaça de la Font, so if you're someone who wants to be right next to restaurants, bars, clubs and shops this is for you; also close to the Cathedral, the old town and the Roman ruins (amphitheater, circus, forum); a short walk from Platja del Miracle, a clean, lifeguarded beach where I was always able to find good space no matter the day or time. * I had a double room at the back of the property, whose window faced onto another flat but with a small terrace between us. Thus it was quiet and got direct sunlight most of the day. The room had an AC unit that cooled the room quickly, and also had decent shelf and hanger space given the room size (small, but that's typical of European hotel rooms, especially in old buildings). * The room was cleaned every day—towels changed every day, sheets changed every few days. Post-COVID I've come to expect the opposite—that hotel rooms will only be cleaned once a week or upon request—so that was a pleasant surprise. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and helpful. Cons: * Automated check-in—by far the biggest con. The hostel didn't send our trip coordinator, who wasn't in-country, the access code to the front door, though it was supposed to have been sent 24h before. So I arrived, the first in my group to get there, not realizing this would be needed. Eventually after waiting outside for some time another guest happened to be going inside, and let me in. The machine was wonky at first but eventually worked, at least for me; other guests checking in at the same time as the later arrivals in my group, however, had worse luck, and I'm not sure if they were ever able to reach a Forum rep to access their rooms. * No on-site staff, poorly-manned hostel phone line—we had a situation in our group later that week where a group member forgot their key in their room on their way to dinner, and ended up having to sleep in the small lobby area overnight as nobody from the Forum number provided was picking up the phone. The pin number the automated machine was requesting in order to issue a new key had never been sent to our group coordinator either, hence why the group member was never able to get a new key issued from the machine. * Other people in my university group had single rooms in the center of the property. Thus they did not ever have direct sunlight; their rooms either faced a wall or a disused lift shaft at the center of the property. This is just something for people to be aware of when they're making the bookings; the room photos on the site are not representative of most of the rooms of the property. * Accessibility: there is no lift/elevator, and it is a four-story property with steep flights of stairs between floors. If anyone in your party is disabled or otherwise has mobility or fitness issues, or if you simply have a lot of luggage,

It’s the old cliche of you get what you pay for. We didn’t realise that full board didn’t even include tap water with our meals. We were charged $3.60 for a jug of tap water so opted to go all inclusive. We ended up paying for a day that we couldn’t use due to being picked up at 9:45am. Josina at reception went above and beyond to help guide us around the city. Whilst the hotel is prime location for the beach, this is a hotel for Spanish residents not tourists as Josina was the only person who spoke English at reception. On arrival we paid for a fridge which was not delivered so had to chase up more than once. Bedding was filthy on two of the beds. The House keeper asked us to wait until tomorrow for them to be changed. Thank god for google translator. Had to go to reception 4 times to ask for clean bedding. The soap dispenser in one of the bathrooms was empty and there was a visible build up of dust on top of both soap dispensers in the bathrooms. The male bar staff were rude and on more than one occasion served the Spanish guests who were stood behind me in the line. The food selection was ok if you can get over the partial cooked fried eggs and tough bread. The sea food collection was good. Most of the shops are shut during the day and the ***** outside the hotel gets very busy at night especially on the weekends. If you are all Inclusive be mindful that this does not include the bar on the beach so you will have to travel back and forth to get drinks and snacks. This hotel is perfect if you like the beach but as with the hotel if you don’t speak Spanish you may have to use google translate to communicate. If you’re on the first floor be prepared to hear the hoover in reception from 6am onwards. Also on the first floor your room is cleaned very early in the morning.

ゲゲストGood first impressions - well put together hotel with great amenities and nice staff. First evening I ordered room service - It took over 1hour 15 minutes to arrive, and that's after I went to ask at the reception. Also the room door wouldn't shut properly - it was still open when it seemingly had clunked shut - but this was dealt with swiftly, thank you. First shower I had - oh dear - it has a head with one narrow spray (not like a regular/ normal round or rectangular one) that fires at you almost horizontally and in a narrow clump (irritating and impractical) - so even when you try and slow the pressure, it still goes to the back of the bath, over the bath end, and swamps the bathroom - firstly you simply cannot shower with such a dumb 'design student' reject style shower head, and secondly you'll spend several minutes after finishing having a shower, using up all the towels to mop the bathroom floor, and leave them in a giant wet mess, only to start smelling during the night - terrific (not) ! The last time I experienced a shower head that went only horizontal over the back of the bath, was a (very good, apart from this,) two star hotel in Morocco - but even that one had a regular round head (so you could actually wash properly/ normally under it), not a single tiny narrow head like at this hotel. The room I had was the cheapest, and apart from not having an opening window (I know this is kind of standard these days, so I'm not bothered), it was a well appointed comfortable room and even had a side view of the Med, which was great. People will always come to this hotel because of its awesome location, including a roof terrace ..commanding some of the best full vantage points in Tarragona (and many other reasons), but I hope the complacency of them knowing this, doesn't hold them back from considering customers' improvements / suggestions. I had pasta carbonara for dinner the 2nd night - a few tubes of pasta in a thin limp sauce, with some almost microscopic strands of ham (seemed like a microwave job) - no bread with it, no salad, very very unsatisfactory it was ..I was still hungry, so I ordered a small pizza, which was ok, but seemed like a basic supermarket one (it wasn't good), and it took a long time to arrive. The rooftop pool, they call a 'plunge pool', but this is underselling it - I did lots of lengths in it, it's maybe 4ft deep .. it's great. The lower pool is also nice and is much bigger and deeper. The day I left, the fire alarm went off at about 7am - A bit annoying. Some people started to leave the building and some probably didn't. This is overall a very good hotel, and I was really impressed. I liked the staff on reception, the breakfast staff and the rooftop bar/ restaurant staff - they were all very friendly and very efficient - This is especially nice when you're by yourself. Tarragona is great and swimming in the sea was wonderful too.
Generally hotel was clean and tidy , stayed for 7 nights , hotel wifi poor kept disconnecting Lovely location step out onto the beach , 1 nights entertainment in 7 days. Hotel restaurant breakfast 8 - 10 am Evening 8- 10 pm buffet food was well presented BUT AT BEST LUKE WARM every day . small swimming pool at front of hotel but in shade most of the day , afternoons sun reached the pool. Air conditioning in hotel rooms ok but not great , Drink prices fair compared to local bars Bus service VERY GOOD getting out and about to Salou and Terragoma. Beach all sand and well maintained, but be aware big waves and strong undercurrent. OVERALL OK HOLIDAY BUT WOULD NOT RETURN TO HOTEL , STAFF FREINDLY AND HARD WORKING. WENT WITH TUI HOLIDAYS AND NO REPRESENTATIVE ON COACH TO AND FROM HOTEL AND NO TUI STAFF AT HOTEL
I have just returned from a week away and wanted rest and relaxation and I got just that. I was in an apartment room really a family room with a balcony. My balcony offered me sea glimpses and I didn't care because just a few steps and you stand at the edge of the Mediterranean . Sun rise one morning was an almost spiritual moment. The storm one night was amazing and the sun shone every day. The staff go to great lengths to oblige, inform and assist any outing any guest has in mind and I have had lifts into the village on two occasions. Amazing. The food was so varied for both breakfast and dinner that I challenge anyone to say they didn't like it. I have so may moments to mention but my favourite was a lunch on the cafeteria terrace. Tuna salad. In the sun. In the open air. In October. I loved it. I cannot comment on the daily and nightly entertainment for adults and for children as that isn't what I went for but the Bingo in three languages and with intermezzo dance must have been fun for young and old. The laughter was infectious. I saw an adder on a walk basking in the sun and flamingos on my trip to the mussel farm. I honestly didn't want to come home. There were things which others might miss but my week was utter bliss. Thank you to all the staff. Susan van Ling
We have stayed at the Dorada Palace on several occasions. Never disappointed. Recently the management has been taken on by Port Aventura and it has had a multi million pound facelift. We particularly liked the style of the 'wooden slat' additions to the pillars and lift door surrounds. There have been a few criticisms of the hotel in previous reviews. Ignore these negative comments ! The hotel is fresh, clean and tidy and the food is excellent with a good daily variety to suit all tastes. All the staff are so friendly and keen to please if help is needed in any way. It is central for the shops and beach and very close to the theme park which is 50% discount when booked at the hotel for half board guests like us. If you are all inclusive there may be free entry passes. Two people got into the lift next to me and said 'Isn't this hotel fabulous ! Better than the one we stayed in last year at Salou'. I think that sums it up, we are going to book this hotel again for next year.
This was our third time staying at the hotel Gran Europe, and our third review. Previously stayed in 2014 and 2016. The hotel is under different ownership/management since then. We always loved this relatively small hotel which has a great location on the promenade and seafront. We had two rooms this time, as I joined my wife and children halfway through their three week stay and this gave us more room and comfort than squeezing into one room. Saying that they rooms are a good size with Two large double beds. Rooms are clean and refurbished with good size modern bathroom and a hallway that has plenty of storage. A Good feature is that the halway has both the door to the access corridor and a door to the bedroom, which means the bedroom is shielded from corridor noise at night when both doors are closed. Corridors also are carpeted so we heard no noise at all of the usual footsteps or suitcases being wheeled along at all times of day/night. This was a bonus for us as we are light sleepers. Overall the hotel though is a quiet and peaceful space. The restaurant and bar are excellent with good food and drink available. Plenty of choice and no issues with flies or hygiene. The staff in restaurant and bar are wonderful as are all hotel staff, including reception and cleaning staff. Looking back on our previous review from 2016 we can say our few negative experiences have all been eliminated and we have no faults this time. There were a few smokers around but far less than we saw in 2016. The hotel is dog friendly and it was no problem for us to see dogs being walked around, in corridors and reception but dogs were not present by the pool or allowed in the bar and restaurant. Our children are teens now so didn’t partake in mini disco or kids club, but can say we noticed these to be much improved since 2016. The beach is always fabulous, can’t fault it. Highly recommend this hotel, but not for party animals as it is quiet and peaceful and a lot of elder people stay here. One thing to note. Airport Taxi transfers are expensive here. £100euro or more each way. I discovered that the Uber app will give you public transport options for bus/train if you arrive at a suitable time. My flight landed at 6pm and I then used a bus and train from Barcelona airport and walked down to the hotel from the station, took about 2 hours and cost me less than 8 euro. Was at hotel for dinner. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Excellent.
