クラレンス ホテル(Clarence Boutique Hotel)

Pretty average experience for a so-called boutique hotel. On the plus side it's got a good location with free car parking and spacious rooms. On the negative side the restaurant is closed, the bar had limited food options, the bedroom is dark and dingy and there is no breakfast option available. However, a big 'no-no' is the staffing who are a mixed bunch of disinterested youngsters, many of whom, are inexperienced overseas workers who have no obvious supervision. The loud 'boom-boom' music that emanated from the bar/kitchen area is clearly a choice of staff and may well explain the lack of a convivial atmosphere and almost empty public bar on the evening of our stay.

Great central location, as we had a function in town to attend. Loved the blend of character and modern. Very cool. Delighted to discover our bathroom had the shower in the old Post Office safe, very clever. A little noisy when the kitchen below was shutting down around 11pm.

We had one night at the Clarence and thought it was wonderful. Being in the old Post Office, it has a lovely historical charm. The rooms have beautiful decor, very comfortable beds and luxurious linen. Our room was large and had great black out curtains. We had a drink the bar downstairs, which is a really nice spot. Excellent, friendly service. Also good to have free parking available. We are keen to return when we're in Tauranga.

We are regular guests at the Clarence hotel and it is always a great stay. The renovation of the old post office means the rooms, bar and restaurants have a unique ambience. It's great coming down the stairs to the buzzing bar with the friendliest bar staff, and now Simon Wright is head chef in the Bistro, it makes the restaurant experience very special too.

What was originally a grand Post Office has been turned into an attractive, characterful & friendly hotel with friendly staff & a deservedly popular bar/restaurant. It would be worth 5-starsvwere it not for an early (10am) check-out & the absence of any breakfast facilities.

Checked in here late after previous accommodation we booked was inhabitable. The staff here were amazing. Rooms beautiful. Bed was super comfortable. Had all the amenities you need. Gorgeous old building. Will definitely stay here again.

Stayed last night at Clarence hotel and I was so impressed! The hotel smelled nice, the rooms were very clean, the beds were very luxurious and comfy. The room was tastefully decorated, high quality bathroom products too, and good parking available. Just disappointed google told me the restaurant was closed, as thought we would have lunch prior to checking in, was a bit of a shame when we arrived to see people eating in the restaurant as had we known we would have eaten there too. Would stay again next time we are in Tauranga without a doubt.

stay one night, the italian mangeress refunded our first (missed a night due family emergency) they fed us quickly to get to a show, the food was fantastic, the room was clean pleasent and comfortable. we lost a ring off my partners finger, the checkout lady Eden went and searched our room, found ghe ring and secured it for our collection. great service all round, even the cleaner was freindly. will stay here again with current mangers/and owners. thanks clarence team

Stayed here for one night and really enjoyed it. The rooms have been well appointed and seem to have been renovated relatively recently as they’re in good condition with modern finishes. Friendly staff and a great central location too. We didn’t get a chance to enjoy the bar or restaurant but heard through friends they’re both amazing.
