This has been a very difficult review to write because we liked SalaCoco so much that we just kept sounding like an advertisement. Took us a couple of weeks before we could stop gushing and write something informative. This past spring was our third long-term stay in the Ban Krut area. We wanted to find a nice place directly on the beach to escape the Chiang Mai smoky season for 2-3 months. After a lot of research and emailing, we got lucky and arranged a stay at SalaCoco. We rented the smaller of the two available houses which are both very nicely decorated and furnished. We had full access to the very large western-style kitchen next door for cooking when we didn’t want to eat out, or we could BBQ. We also had access to free laundry facilities on the property. The wifi was very fast and reliable, and worked well enough everywhere on the property for us to be able to sit in the sala, watch the waves and get some work done. The sand beach and sea was a 20 meter walk from our front door. We rarely saw anyone else on the beach or in the water. Although there were occasional guests at the nearby resorts, our stretch of beach was generally deserted. The villas’ landscaping is lovely with lots of flowers (and coconuts!) and the constant breezes kept us relatively cool. The real gem of the villas was, for us, the two owners. Id and Raymond live in the third house on the property and are incredibly charming, delightful, knowledgeable and always striving to please. And they do succeed in making their guests happy and comfortable. They know everything about the area and go way above and beyond with their hospitality. After 2 ½ months at SalaCoco we were very sad to leave. It was a great experience, and we hope to return next year.
