ハイアット プレイス トピカ(Hyatt Place Topeka)

Clean and friendly. Quiet location. Great stay!

We checked in late, front desk was friendly and accommodating when we needed bedding for the sofa sleeper. Rooms were good, clean. It looked like it was under construction. Hallways seemed a bit dirty. Breakfast was good. Area felt unsafe, not a lot of lighting. No other hotels near by, just office buildings. Overall the hotel was fine for our overnight stay, we were not there long. Bed was comfortable.

Waited in an empty lobby for 5 minutes to check in. Called to get phone to ring. Walked around looking and no one? Person not polite. Room was clean and comfortable beds as always. No soap, shampoo and when asking for some she said if your room doesn't have it we probably are out. I like the hotel chain and will continue to use but not the Topeka one.

After checking in, I had to go back downstairs for soap and shampoo because there wasn't any in the room. Terrible breakfast; no hot water in the morning; soap does not come off; phone in room was not working. The gentleman at the front desk in the morning of Jan. 7th, 2024, was very nice and courteous.

The room was clean, however it wasn’t stocked very well. No soap, two Kleenex’s in box and no extra box, no hair dryer. We stayed two nights, no one came in to change out towels, make bed or take out trash. There was a snowstorm the evening before we left, hadn’t even started to clean parking lot at 10:00 the next morning when we checked out.

Despite a winter storm warning where travel was not advised, the hotel’s manager would not allow cancellation of the room. I’ve stayed there many times in the past, but will never do so again.

Staff was pleasant. Hotel is getting rundown. They are doing construction on the front but many areas need attention. Breakfast was ok, minimal choices.

The hotel was under renovations, which I didn't know when booking, and the mess was more than I was expecting. Plus the elevator didn't work. The first 3 floors were being remodeled, and with the elevator not working, I expected to be on floor 4 as there weren't that many guests. Nope, they put me on 6, the top floor. There just wasn't any reason for that. On the plus side, the breakfast was good.

The staff was extremely friendly and as helpful as possible. I had no idea the place was being renovated - half the room are unavailable and the elevator is out of order (yes you take the stairs). The shower drain needs cleaning and I had difficulty get the water to work properly. I assume this maybe due to construction because the actual room decor and furniture was nice. Breakfast was good as well.
