As others have said, this hotel is nice but does need to move forward. When we arrived after a very long flight and drive we couldn’t find reception. It appeared that the drive through drop off had been turned into a seating area and there were no signs or directions to help, first fail. We finally found where to go and had a lot of luggage so had to just park as near as we could and find a trolley. This area was opened up the day we left so least loading the car was easier. There was only one lift we found which was very very slow. The foyer is also very noisy as the Hudson restaurant overspills into that area. We were told we had a large king room and when we went in, yes it was nice and spacious with a huge sofa to chill on. However when we looked out of the massive window, rather than a lovely balcony or even a view of the car park we were squashed in the corner with just a view of a pitched roof so made our room very dark with very limited natural light. The patio room next door was being refurbed so there dirty windows and dust. We never actually saw anyone fixing it either. The coffee making area was very tiny so instead of putting it into the room, it’s squished by the bathroom. What we hadn’t realised and not easy to see, the coffee in reception and parking there is a fee for so beware of that - you get nothing for free. There is a pool but was heavily used by children so there appeared to be no adult time. It also looked tired. Everywhere does look like it needs redecorating and bedding is tired and one slow lift clearly was a hindrance to some. As we were only one floor up we used stairs apart from check in and out. What did notice was someone had used a table upstairs for chilling as there was seating but a dirty wine glass and beer glass stayed there for three days! Didn’t make us feel that cleanliness was priority. We only had one breakfast at Hudson bar which was nice but at $65 we thought that not viable for our stay, so we brought some breakfast to have in our room each day. Washing up was a challenge so bought own tea towel. As others have said cleaning is on request so we opted not to have it and just asked for coffee pods as needed. Fridge did need a defrost, as couldn’t put any ice packs into the ice box. Staff are ok but again depends who you get, needs to be more across the board than intermittent.
We arrived in Carla at the desk was so sweet and said she had saved us a room on the 4th floor as we requested. The room was beautiful it was quiet every night. Through our stay we also were delighted to have Natalie helping us with our boarding passes in several questions we had. A couple of days Luke helped us out with laundry detergent in several questions we had for him. They all had beautiful smiles and wonderful attitudes. Everybody at the hotel all the employees were outstanding. But these three employees. Carla Natalie and Luke I want to give an extra shout out to them how much we appreciated them. Sonesta is near everything in Vancouver just blocks from the and several restaurants to choose from. We had dinner at two of them. We will stay there our next trip out to Vancouver Washington for sure. Good job Sonesta in selecting such excellent employees. It really made our stay so wonderful. Thanks again
On a quite corner away from the hustle & bustle of busy streets. Beautiful surrounding. Within walking distance of the Black Bear restaurant. The happy hour bar with food starts at 5pm was great! Thanks Paula for outstanding service! This helped to make our short trip of two days so enjoyable. Ladies at the desk where very accommodating. They do have an indoor pool and hot tub! Nothing to write home about. However, If we ever visit Vancouver again, I would stay here. Very clean Lobby and beautifully decorated.
3307paulkThe location is good with access to a wide variety of restaurants. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. We were traveling by motorcycle, so I was happy to hear there is security patrols throughout the night in the parking lot. The front desk staff even allowed me to park under the front awning.
DD2560REgaryfI want to start off by saying that I am not a motel snob, I have stayed in many dingy places. I have never written a review, but I feel the need to warn others of this place. Firstly when I got here, I found pube looking hair in the bed, it looked like the sheets had not even been washed, they were stained (fresh stains) and they had holes in them. It was disgusting, but thankfully I had a sleeping bag in my so I sucked it up and tried to go to sleep. After about an hour or trying to asleep over the sound of some tweaky people having a yelling match under me, I was finally able to fall asleep. Around 2 am, I was woken up by loud pounding on my door. It startled me, but I figured someone had accidentally knocked on my door and they would go away, but he didn’t. He started pounding on my door and yelling “RICKY F***G LET ME IN MAN I NEED MY BAG!!” My window was open partially due to the extremely strong stench of cigarette, so I could hear outside very well and he could hear me. I was trying not to make any noise because I didn’t want him thinking Ricky was ignoring him so I went and hid in the bathroom. I tip-toed to the door to look and see what kind of guy he looked like and he looked like an unstable addict. He kept yelling and pounding” RICKY F*** LET ME IN”!! He got angrier and angrier and began saying “IF YOU DONT LET ME IN IM GOING TO BREAK THE SCREEN! I didn’t know what to do, I tried yelling that it was the wrong room in a mans voice (I am a young woman alone so I wasn’t trying to have him know that I was alone in there) but he just kept yelling that he was going to break the screen. - [ ] At this point I was extremely frightened so I hid in the bathroom and called the front desk whispering so he wouldn’t hear me and become further antagonized, I asked them to send someone to tell him to go away. The response I got from the hotel was “sorry we won’t do anything about it, questioning me saying “how do we know you don’t know him” i repeatedly told them I didn’t know him, that he was threatening to break into my room at any moment but they didn’t care and were extremely rude to me. I asked them to call the police, in response I was told if I wanted to call the police I should do it myself. - [ ] I called 911, they came just in time. He was saying he was about to break the screen as they arrived. Even after the police were there the guy continued to say “please tell Ricky to let me get my bag. I said I don’t know Ricky, please leave me alone. They told him I don’t know Ricky, but he was angry and confused. The police left, this was around 3:30. I tried to sleep but I was scared he would come back, angry i had called the police on him. I finally got to sleep at 4:30, when I woke up my alarm hadn’t gone off because I had left my charger in the car and I didn’t want to leave my room in case he was still out there. I woke up at 10:45 and the checkout was 11. I called the desk to ask if I could have a 11:15 checkout because of this
