Only hotel in the town of varkaus but the restaurant is very nice

Very nice, first time but everything felt good. Didn’t need to search anything, everything where I expected. Very good breakfast. Free parking, very nice. We went to Varkaus theater, recommend that too. Katoamistemppu was superb show. Walking distance from hotel.

Pleasant and easy place to stay. Friendly staff and good breakfast with options for different diets.

The normal hotel, with a lack of cleanliness, but with a head waiter in the restaurant, rude, macho, he disrespected us and treated us badly, the two days we stayed. I know that he also did it with other people from other groups and especially if we were women. I imagine that it would be related to the owners because otherwise I don't understand why he continues to work there. Abrir en el Traductor de Google •

Wouldn’t be my choice of a hotel, if it wouldn’t be the only hotel in Varkaus. The room was very worn out, smelled very very stale, there were stains in the curtains ans arm chair. Room was good size, but that’s about the good things about it. The pillows were so high, so I couldn’t use them for sleeping, had to use towel instead. Reception staff was okay, but could have been nicer and more welcoming. The best thing and big surprice of the hotel was very good breakfast buffet, with lot of selection in warm and cold dishes. It was better than in many quality hotels that I have been, so allthough the room was not what I would expect from a hotel, the breakfast was much more what I expected.

We stayed one night in the Hotel Oscar. Hotel was very clean, breakfast was great and the staff was friendly. Our room was spaceous and cosy. We were very pleased and would happily stay at Hotel Oscar again. 6/5

NB At the moment, there are road works in front of the hotel, so access is by foot only. Complimentary parking at the rear of the hotel was available. The lady in Reception who checked us in was very friendly and efficient. Our room had recently been renovated, as had the sauna, the bed was very comfortable, though the room’s furniture, mottled grey leather sofas, were unexpected and quite un-Scandic. At the time of our stay there was no heating (nor aircon) in our room. As it was a colder summer day, we thankfully had the sauna to compensate for the lack of heating. Breakfast was good with plenty of choices, but the level of service was unprofessional. As an example, we asked for a basic Finnish breakfast speciality, & the answer was “Ei O” Perhaps a customer service refresher course for the restaurant & kitchen staff would be beneficial.
