Castello Camemi

Beautiful property and overall wonderful experience. One serious downside was lack of a shower. We had a spacious room (13 I think) but it had only a tub with a handheld nozzle for hairwashing. No shower curtain. Needless to say, we were not successful at bathing body and head without spraying bathroom. And when I asked for extra towels (having used ours to clean up flooding) we got one new one. Not a good scene. Most of the rooms have showers though. Otherwise a beautiful property with wonderful food and wine.

Beautiful location and stunning building, only ourselves and the owners there on our two night stay. Lovely staff. Friendly owners. Unfortunately the room was pretty tired and bathroom needed a good overall. Old marked shower enclosure. Crumbling walls round the shower unit. Shower coming away from wall and mould round taps. Also a ton of ants in and around bathroom. Tissue box full of them. Breakfast which was included was poor. Very old looking tomato and cucumber slices and tbh v little choice. Fruit looked like it had been there longer than it should. A large ham which you could slice yourself but knife so blunt a teaspoon would have been more use. No drinks menus on offer for coffees etc. in honesty the worst breakfast I’ve had on our many trips to sicily. We nearly booked here for our wedding last year… relieved we didn’t tbh. Foyer area absolutely stunning, this needs to have a bar in it, would be a lovely place to sit and have drinks. The stay was for our wedding anniversary. Although no other guests.. no room upgrade offered. We are elsewhere on the evening rather than have our anniversary dinner there after seeing how poor breakfast was.

Located in a very quiet and isolated area, with beautiful gardens and a very impressive inner court yard. The outer gardens are green, with beautiful plants, well maintained and can host garden or pool parties. The restaurant is beautifully arranged with soft arches, big windows, the staff is very attentive but overall a bit too expensive for what it has to offer. The inside hall and the rooms are cold looking, outdated and kind of spooky, not really matching the luxury displayed in the advertising pictures but I guess a castle is supposed to be like this...The road from the gate to the castle is badly maintained and the occasionally repaired potholes are signalled by 2 plastic containers. The cactuses at the balconies aren't giving a welcoming look but more of a hostile one. Due to it's high altitude location, I believe it can be a very good and cool place to be in the middle of the summer when temperatures are a bit too high elsewhere. I would say this castle is excellent for a trip back in time, for events or group gatherings and less suitable for couples. As a solo traveller, I would completely avoid this hotel, it might feel extremely lonely...Definitely not a 5 star hotel, neither a 5 star experience.

What a delightful place! We spent several days at Castillo Camemi as a base of operations for a guided bike trip in the rolling hillsides of rural Sicily. The staff were all so courteous and helpful. They went out of their ways to make us feel at home. The restaurant was lovely, including room service. And the setting? Beautiful! Wonderful people in a delightful castle in a peaceful setting. We give this place our best recommendation: we will visit again!

We got married at Castello Camemi in July. Aesthetically, the location speaks for itself - the castle is fantastic and the surrounding countryside is extremely tranquil. The rooms are spacious, luxurious and beautifully done up. The food at the restaurant is superb, owing to chef Anna, as is the service, thanks to the head waiters and their team. Perhaps what we appreciated most, was the friendly, accommodating, professional and clearly experienced staff (in particular Nunzia) - when it comes to wedding organization, they know what they are doing. We felt reassured and that we were in good hands throughout the planning stages and wedding itself. Covid required us to modify plans a number of times, though Castello Camemi were flexible and reasonable throughout. We could not have been happier with how our wedding turned out, and would certainly recommend this venue to anyone looking to organize a wedding in Sicily. Michael & Kim
