Black Bear Lodge

I was happy with the cleanliness of our suite The beds were comfy! Finally! The lodge was a safe and friendly environment Walking distance to shops grocery and coffee shop ice arena Pool and hot tub was excellent And last but most important was the staff! The minute we arrived dawn greeted us Like family, let us put our 5 bags and suitcases in the office until we were able to check in and we went to get coffee in the meantime. TV was easy to use, netflix right there, internet no problem, didn't even need to use guest password. When we got home we realized my husband left a very sentimental personal item in the room, 2 days later! And when I called I spike with Lisa she was confident it would be located and that she would be able to ship it to us if/when found. And it was found! They shipped it back to us and Jim called personally (the GM) to say they would not be charging us the shipping cost due to the fact that it was a sentimental item and they just were glad yo get it back to us. Unbelievable! Best experience I've ever had all around at a hotel /lodge. Gold metal all around for the black bear lodge and Dawn, Lisa & Jim! Thank you so much. Rose & Ben

I don't even know where to start. We were up in Waterville for a hockey tournament over MLK weekend. We had almost 40 rooms (that is a lot of kids) booked for our organization and every single one of our families were treated like family. All the staff were understanding, helpful and kind. Every morning Dawn would check in and see if we needed anything, see how our night was the night before and helped to make sure we felt like her family. She personally hand washed my white sweatsuit because it was stained beyond repair and I went to the front desk to ask her for some advise and she said I've got this, and did she ever! Every night Steve would check in and see how we were, if there was anything we needed/how could he help. He took his personal fan out of his office to cool off the conference room because our dance party was getting too hot. Front desk Michael was always so kind and helpful when we can to ask him for help because we locked a key in our room or needed more toilet paper. He would end all conversations with no problem glad I could help. Not once did we feel like we were a bother. There were over 90 people in our group between players, parents and siblings. Each and everyone one of us know Dawn , Steve and Michael. The way they greeted us, checked in with the players to see how their games went, lent a helpful hand and helped us have the best time we possibly could have! Dawn, Steve and Michael went above and beyond with every once of our trip. No words could thank them enough or explain how truly appreciative we all are for them! I am already missing my stay there. We can't wait to go back!

The accommodations were excellent, location and services. The staff went over and beyond expectations. Extremely helpful offering special help for someone in my party with an injury. Bus service to mountain was a plus!

Very dirty room that was not cleaned prior to arrival.Staff changed us to 2 more rooms equally dirty with dirty towels and food remains plus no beds made etc.Very hot and had to use a fan! Would never recommend you stay here.Mattress should be discarded and updates made.1970 decor and needs to have major updates.Staff was very nice but they have no support from their superiors to remedy these situations. The breakfast was taken care of by a nice man with all the responsibility to maintain that particular area. These are only a few of the recommendations that this lodge needs to be up to standard! So thankful to leave!!!

We had stayed at Black Bear few times before but unfortunately the place isn’t the same. They put as on #515 and it was disgusting . The unit hasn’t been cleaned and neglected for a long time. We reached out to manager and had to wait to be moved to other unit that still not well cleaned.

Large condo for the price, great value for an inexpensive stay with kids- they loved the pool. Room could have been cleaner- recycling wasn’t taken out from the stay before us and was still in the closet. Cereal on the floor under the furniture. Great shuttle service.

This review is based on the condition of Unit 420. The staff were friendly and helpful, however I sensed they are struggling to run a smooth operation due to the lack of support from their superiors. This lodge hosts both visitors and long term residents, so they try hard to accommodate both, common sense, you need to be respectful of others during your stay which is very reasonable. Unit 420 is disgusting. This wasn’t a case of “it wasn’t cleaned well after the last stay”… this unit has been neglected for a long time. It also lacks the supplies you would expect it to be furnished with. We were completely horrified by how dirty this unit was. It hasn’t been vacuumed, washed or deep cleaned in a very long time, if ever. I hope my review makes it to the owner, you should be ashamed of yourself renting this unit out in the condition it’s in while lining your pockets with a good rental fee.

Not clean. After traveling all day we ordered take out and ate back at the room . There was only 1 plate in the cabinet and the rest were still dirty in dishwasher from previous guest. Rug was filthy and kitchen floor had crumbs and stains everywhere. No blow dryer in room and when I asked for one they said maybe they could find one . When the maintenance guy came with a blow dryer he tried to tell me I just couldn’t find it and told me where to look under the sink. I told him twice there was no dryer under the sink but a can of paint. My son also wake up with a weird rash I’m hoping not from dirty bedding.

The carpeting was very old with burned or melted areas. There were stains on the ceilings, walls, lamps in our room. The appliances were over 10 years old. The closets were full of broken lamps. The rooms were sp****ly and weirdly furnished. It was in desperate need of updating. It was nice to have a kitchen but for the price we paid, we expected much better. Art had fallen off the walls leaving stains and placed in the closet. The hot tub was the oldest semi-operable hot tub I've ever seen. The whole building needed major updating. We were disappointed in the poor appearance. Bed quality, mattresses, and blankets were poor and outdated. We wouldn't go back.
