We stayed here overnight for New Year's eve. We had two rooms, which are 5 star standard, with the sort of thing you expect in the West End. Great bathroom soaps and shampoos. Double sink. Decent size robes. Huge bath, you could get two in. Great walk in showers. Coffee machine. It was the same room we had the last time we stayed. It looks brand new. Polished chrome everywhere - it was gleaming ! Quite extraordinary. Our room overlooked the valley and river. The place was very busy as one would expect. Dinner was terrific. We have not eaten here since last summer as we have moved house, much further away than before. The dining room lighting was very good, where one wants to sit and relax and enjoy the ambiance. The food was exceptional. Not cheap but not crazy money either. I had to start "Mushroom Pate" mainly as i was curious as to what that "thing" would be like; it was delicious. More like a "panna cotta" texture. We had had Beef Wellington. Great portion and piping hot. I had a Fondant dessert. The whole crew of men and women, provided a professional and polished service, with a smile. I found out when there, the owner closed the hotel - on Christmas day, so the staff could enjoy their Xmas lunch. This sort of attitude can only imbue a positive culture; and whether that was true or not, I cant recall such a positive, enthusiastic, smiling team of people. The owner was also out and about, chatting to guests and lending a hand to the staff . Go there. We will be back very soon.
