Weligama Ocean Breeze

The photos indicated a charming rustique, but the reality yielded shabby - and non of the chic. The roof timbers suggest authentic historical building but up close they support corrugated steel painted in red, rather than terracotta roof tiles. The garden is scattered with litter and the swings are out of use. My daughter complained of the taste of the pool water. The rooms were fitted with the most basic furnishings and the general feel of the hotel was a two-star photoshopping (and pricing) itself as a four star online. Perfectly good for half the price, but poor value for money compare to what else is available in Welligama. A real shame, as a little effort could go a long way here. Some hotel know-how is very much needed in order to save this tired, overpriced cheap stay into the authentic villa that its location deserves. Better off to book ahead for the W15 or similarly priced options - much more deserving of this price ranged .

My family (6 of us including a toddler) travelled to Weligama and stayed at Ocean breeze for the just under a week. The hotel is in a great location especially if you want to surf, just cross the road and you’re on the beach catching waves. The hotel itself and service is next to none, especially Nimantha. They go above and beyond to help; we had to arrange extra rooms and stay longer and that was no trouble, they organised us transfers and cars to get around the island at a reasonable rate. The facilities are great. The restaurant is one of the best in Weligama, so even if you’re not staying do try them out. To get a great deal contact them directly. Will definitely be staying again! 😊

The staff makes this place amazing. Always smiling and ready to help you. Amazing breakfast until 10:30 which is great after a morning surf! Location is great, just cross the road and you are on the beach, many places to eat around. I ended up staying here nearly two weeks. It has a nice pool and an area where you can lie in hammocks, sit at a table, or on a comfy couch to relax. Its a nice place but the staff makes all the difference!

The hotel was nice and cozy, nothing fancy but good bang for your buck. Clean rooms, AC, mosquito nets, backyard pool and helpful staff. Breakfast included had awesome smoothie bowls, toast, eggs, fruit , tea and coffee. Staff helped us with laundry service and arranged transportation to airport.

I have stayed at Weligama Ocean Breeze w my family in Jan 2022 and can highly recommend this hotel. All facilities are very well looked after, the service is friendly and fast and the breakfast is delicious. You can see and feel that the staff is really committed to make your stay as nice as possible. Rooms have very good air conditioning and new bathrooms and are facing to the swimming pool area so there is no issue w street noise. The pool is huge and gets cleaned every morning. The location is amazing as you are just opposite the Beach and surfing schools so it is not even a 1 minute walk to the Beach. This was the best hotel from our entire trip in SriLanka, hope to be back soon!

It's definitely not the Mandara or Marriott nearby, but then it sells for cheaper than those. But it ticks all boxes without any feeling of luxury, so for some people yes it is a good choice. * Very friendly service, and good meals (breakfast included, dinner a la carte) * Rooms a bit small and basic, with e.g. cold water in bathroom sink but good hot shower. Bed is basic, AC was far too noisy hence switched to the fan * Good WiFi * Smallish but clean pool * A few steps across the road to the surfing beach. Which also means lots of weekend noise at the front side rooms from parties there. (And sadly lousy facemask discipline for guests and staff, but that is a bit common in the area)

A great stay!! Comfortable large room with a great balcony. Very friendly, helpful staff! Lovely pool and breakfast too. The staff were very kind and helped us out a lot with travel arrangements and logistics for our trip. A stones throw away from the beach and surf! Central to everything. Will return!

We planned on staying for one night and ended up staying 4 nights. The room was the cleanest one we had in Sri Lanka, spacious and soundproof, so don't worry about the street infront of the hotel. The staff is very nice and they try to fulfill every request. They offer 3 different kinds of breakfast: western, healthy breakfast including smoothie bowl and authentic sri lankan with hoppers, string hoppers or coconut roti (you have to order the night before if you want the local breakfast). You also get fresh fruit, coffee or tea and a surprise. The pool is big and clean and you get extra towels. Its ideal for surfers as you just have to cross the street to access the beach. Lots of boards for rent. Also some sunbeds of you want to watch. Highly recommended staying here!

Hotel très sympathique, parties communes agréable avec un jolie coin piscine. Notre chambre était spacieuse et propre, le seul petit bémol fût un problème avec la climatisation très bruyante à notre arrivée, nous avons donc passé une première nuit sans climatisation mais le personnel à l'écoute et très réactif a réglé le soucis dans la journée suivante. Le gérant à même fait un geste sur la note finale suite à ce désagrément. Nous avons passé 5 jours dans cet hôtel et toutes nos autres nuits furent très agréable. Les repas sont bons et copieux. La plage est à quelques mettre à pieds et la route passante qui nous effrayait un peu lors de notre arrivée n'est finalement pas dérangeante et ne nuit pas au calme des lieux.
