Everything about ETTB is wonderful. We initially booked a mountain facing room and upon checking in, were informed that Sarie had given us a complimentary upgrade to the Orca room which was sea facing. What a pleasure it was to wake up the next morning to the sight and sound of the Indian Ocean. 🌊 Firstly, the place. To be honest, the pictures on their website and any other third party site do not do this place justice. It’s beautifully designed, chic yet delightfully homely and exudes warmth. It even SMELLS amazing. Our room was spacious, comfortable and the bathroom had every amenity imaginable. Beautifully designed, GREAT shower and gorgeous Africology products, which have become one of my firm favourites. Comfortable, beautiful to look at and perfect. The ETTB team put on a stunning breakfast spread, with the option of ordering hot food, too. From the fruit platter to the mezze spread to the creamy mushroom omelette - we couldn’t have asked for any more. Even the chocolate cake they had on the counter was delectable. Snacks, soft drinks, wine and spirits were available off the wine rack/bar, free of charge and we even rediscovered one of our favourite wines, four years later! Last but definitely not least, Sarie, Lyle and the housekeeping team gave us a service that is unmatched. They made us feel right at home straight away. Their willingnsss to go above and beyond was what floored us. When I could not locate a suitable socket for my electric toothbrush charger, Lyle offered to step out a buy a toothbrush for me and Sarie picked up a compatible adaptor so I could charge my toothbrush. Unparalleled generosity. We’ve left a little bit softer and definitely happier. Thank you to Sarie and team for an unforgettable stay. We truly did not want to leave. We will forever recommend ETTB to any of our loved ones who choose to visit SA and The Garden Route. 🫶🏼

We had the most brilliant 6 days at Escape To The Beach thanks to the wonderful staff and, of course, the beautifully presented accomodation. We were given a great welcome by Lyle and were absolutely stunned by the standard of the guest house and our the fabulous Humpback Suite. Sarie is such an amazing host, so friendly and warm - we were very well looked after, nothing was too much trouble. The location is perfect with the beautiful beach only a few steps away and the village also an easy 5 min ute walking distance. We can’t recommend Escape too highly. We would love to go back!

What an amazing experience staying at this property. It is our new favorite place for a romantic getaway trip. We absolutely loved our stayed there. Our host Sarie was incredible, she could not do enough for us during our stay. So helpful and caring. The property is stunning! It offers magnificent views of the ocean and has a quick access to the beach. Their 20m heated swimming pool is great for just relaxing as well as exersicing. Every day they set up loungers around the pool and table with umbrellas for you to have breakfast or just to relax. Sarie made delicious G&T or Mimosas to help us quench our thirst during the hot summer days while we are enjoying the pool area. Our favourite was after dinner to enjoy the hot tub and then the pool. Sarie was sure to keep the pool open for us until late. The room was beautiful and sparkly clean. Very comfortable bed, crispy linen and even had a bath tub in the room overlooking the ocean! And then there is the most delicious breakfast. Fruit platters with the freshest seasonal fruit, freshly baked croissants, ciabatta, meat and cheeses, smoked salmon and on top of that they even offer a hot breakfast (eggs, bacon, mushrooms....)! Coffee is made to your liking, Americanno, Cappuccino.... Every day they also brought us the most delicious desserts from the local bakery. The property is located within walking distance to the local restaurants. Sarie will even help you with the dinner reservations. Parking is included at this B&B. They thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable. Towel hooks by the hot tub, fresh water shower when you rotten from the beach including a brush to clean your shoes. Soft robes in the room and slippers and so much more. I can't describe how much we actually loved it there! You must experience it for yourself. We are already planning to go back for my birthday celebration, if not sooner.

In all our trips both locally and overseas this one will stand out. The relaxed ambience of the whole home. It was like being the guest of a very wealthy friend. You will not believe it until you have been a guest here..

This was the best decision ever, everything was perfect even the towels. Sarie was an amazing host. Breakfast was delicious, I can still smell the scent of the place. Easy access to the sea and is so relaxing. Well done Sarie and the team for making us feel at home. C u soon.

This place is a 10/10. Incredible view, dolphins swim by for breakfast, extremely kind staff and delicious breakfast and drinks which are all complimentary. Wilderness is a great place as a base for the Garden Route. We’ve been lucky to stay at incredible places around the world - this one is certainly among the top. It feels like you’re at home, but with all the services and luxury of a hotel. Highly recommended for everyone looking for a serene stay.

Sari and her Team did everything to feel us comfortable. We got drinks from the full fridge as much as we liked. The View to the beach is breathtaking. The restaurants „Ilali“ and „the Girls“ are really good. We enjoyed our stay very much.

From the moment that we arrived at ETTB we immediately knew that we had made the correct decision. This is an absolutely stunning property and more of a boutique hotel than a guest house. Lyl greeted us on arrival with his delightful smiling nature. The banter was excellent as we quickly discovered that he was a Manchester United supporter and as we are lifelong Liverpool supporters we had a lot of fun !! Nothing was too much trouble to Lyl and he very quickly removed our luggage from the contents of our boot and deposited them in the absolutely stunning Humpback suite, which has the most incredible views of the expansive Wilderness beach which is accessible directly from the property. Waking up to the sound of the rolling waves was. Nina the owner, who was standing in for Sarie the General Manager who was away on study leave, conducted a guided tour of her fabulous property of which she is very rightly extremely proud. Every creature comfort with no expense spared has been considered. The biggest trouble we found with the beds and luxurious bedding was they were extremely difficult to get out of !! The very well equipped ensuite bathrooms, complete with excellent showers, were also a delight. Showering whilst enjoying the view of the waves and the fantastic beach meant showers took longer than normal !! Sarie arrived back from study leave a couple of days into our stay and took over from Nina. Sarie is a breath of fresh air and ensures that everything runs very smoothly and to the highest of standards. Nothing is ever too much trouble for any of the extremely professional ETTB team. Our experience was the absolute opposite to the one recent scathing review that I implore people to ignore. It would appear that nobody else based on the vast number of ETTB’s superb reviews had a similar experience !! Tripadvisor is a platform to help other people. Personally I feel that it is of paramount importance that reviews of this nature are not treated seriously. It should also be noted that all of the other guests during our stay had nothing but extremely positive comments to make and loved everything about ETTB !! Breakfasts were cooked to order and absolutely delicious. Fantastic cakes were also made available throughout the day with virtually any refreshments of your choosing which are included in the room rate. The patio and swimming pool areas are fabulous for relaxation and access to the beach. Long, lazy walks or a pre-requisite. ETTB is in an ideal location for easy access to the local village which has several very good restaurants. We had a very enjoyable meal at iLALi and Salinas on the beach is a must. Nina’s welcoming personality and generosity will ensure that the future success of ETTB is in very good hands. Hopefully one day we will return to Wilderness and ETTB will be our first stop !!
